The lady on reception, was superb; professional yet fun, friendly and at the same time being aware of waiting guests so she used her verbal skills to deal quickly yet effectively with my requests.
My room was on the first floor. There is no lift but there are rooms available on the ground floor for those who find stairs a barrier. The most striking thing was the cleanliness and newness of everything. This hotel is not much more than a year old, I believe, but even so there must have been hundreds of guests since then but everything was immaculate. The bed was extremely comfortable and someone has obviously though about the customer when designing the room, for instance a plug next to the bed! More expensive hotels I have used often don’t have this simple thing so I have wires trailing across the room from the plug socket which is usually over the desk opposite the bed!
The temperature control has just three switches so very easy to use, unlike other places where you would need to consult a 200 page manual to find out how to operate it!
Other reviewers point out the windows being permanently shut and I was a little concerned at first as I do like to have fresh air at night, however it wasn’t a problem for me as the circulation system was more than efficient. Free wifi for half an hour is very welcome and it is not an ‘all at once’ type either so you can switch off and pick up later and do so until your 30 mins is up. I, however decided to buy a voucher to enable me to use wifi for the duration of my stay (one night) which cost only £3.00 – a very reasonable amount in my opinion. One very small suggestion, it would have been good to have an option to pay for this at the initial booking as the til on reception didn’t have change so I had to get some small change in the nearby restaurant. To be fair, the lady on reception gave me the voucher anyway and took my word that I would pay later, which I did!
I liked the choice of pillows – soft and not so soft which is another simple yet thoughtful idea.
The restaurant next door also gets a positive review from me – Table Table. Just one observation though, it was raining the night I stayed and there is no entrance or even a covered walkway from the hotel to the restaurant so I had to go out into the rain, walk round the building and into the restaurant. It seems odd that this hadn’t been considered at the time of building. Other than that, a huge thumbs up from me!
This hotel doesn't have a lift so if you struggle with stairs, book a ground floor room
