Staying at No 18, a spacious, very comfortable & clean acomodation. Having 2 bathrooms a real plus & comfy beds.
A good base for exploring the area or you could have a quiet relaxing holiday in the lovely woodland setting.
The indoor pool was very popular, other features were tennis courts & a childrens play area.
There is also a bar & restaurant, which we did not get round to trying.
Plenty of car parking .

We’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the comfortable accommodation here at Honicombe. We really hope that you will think of coming back to stay with us again soon so that you can explore even more of the local attractions. The setting and the Tamar Valley location as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are something we are really proud of and make a great setting for an active or relaxing break, so we are really glad you enjoyed it too.

We have just come back from a stay and would not recommended for families of children under 5's. On arrival the reception staff where friendly so could not fault them. We had lodge 55 which was in a nice spot. When you first walk in there was a smell of damp although with the windows and door open soon went although there where a bit of mold on the bottom of the living room curtain. We had a leak from the shower which when threw to the bedroom threw the wall and ended up black and the carpet soaked. We informed the reception and the maintenance man replaced 8 tiles and re grouted. He then put a heater in the room to dry out the carpet which we would not of been happy about if we where using the bedroom to sleep in but where using it as storage of our bags although we where asked if we wanted to move we decided not to. We stayed here after reading on the website family entertainment and I would not class family bingo, family quiz and zumba as entertainment especially for a 4 year old, although on the friday there was childrens games on but we did not go so could not say what it was like. We however would of gone only for the fact we would of had our tea in the manor house whilst the games where on but we went up on the wednesday night only to be told you needed to book a table as the chef could only cook for one table at a time which we had never heard of our lives. We would not of of minded if it was busy but there was only one table in there and they informed us there was not much availble on the menu as everything they asked for the did not have. We appreciate it has been took over by new management and there is alot of work to be done but if you want some profit we would advise some more training for your chef so he can cope and cook for more than one table. This is ok for a base as there is a lot to see and do in cornwall but would not recommended to anyone thinking of staying here and not go out .

Like many others had some concerns about the site after reading the reviews however, our lodge was lovely, beautifully decorated and clean! Lady on reception welcoming on arrival and helpful with enquiries during our stay regarding day out information. Bar staff friendly and helpful in our experience! The hot tub was fabulous and used nearly every day, and was cleaned during our stay by a very nice maintenance man. There are areas of the sites that are tired but it is evident that refurbishment is underway to address them (Rome wasn't built in a day) and this didn't detract from our enjoyment. Can't comment on food as didn't eat in the restaurant and we spent every day out exploring the beautiful local area. However a lovely place to eat is the Cross House Inn 5 minutes away! Only tiny nuisance we had was temperamental door lock which took up to 15 minutes to lock/unlock on several occasions (fire safety). Was reported and looked at although not resolved as worked when checked by maintenance staff so we used the door to the bedroom for the last 2 days instead when we still had problems. I believe this was looked at again after we left and made reception aware at departure that there was still a problem. In conclusion lovely staff, pretty lodge, and a lovely base for our holiday!

Room Tip: We stayed in Valley Lodge 24! Lovely views :)

Thought we would try as its one of two pub/restaurants within walking distance of home. Bar staff just pointed us in the general direction of our booked table which was made up for double our booked number though not actually laid up for anyone.
Whilst ordering drinks the waiter/barperson had to be told to add ice to soft drinks as we were not asked.
When our starters were brought out we were told that the plates are very hot (which they were) even though they had salad, prawns and pate on them we then had to wait for cutlery which was only a dessert spoon, first time I've had salad from a spoon, then had to ask for butter for the bread and chutney for the pate as specified from the menu.
Main course. My partner likes her steak rare it came out very well done and nobody came to check if it was okay. My sons lasagna from the child's menu was ordered with ciabatta and salad it came out with chips so we asked for the bread and salad once again hot plates with salad. His lasagna was a good size portion for a child's menu but had seven layers of pasta and one layer of meat. Mother in-laws chilli-con-carne was okay though rice was a bit dry and my partner who works in catering wouldn't of touched it.
We skipped dessert!
It comes to the bill even though we were one table of about five eating meals the bar supervisor had yet to put our bill onto the till, so we had to wait whilst he checked the menu for prices and then as some meals came off their "earlybirds menu" had to told where to find the price by my partner.
But on a positive my gammon was spot on and Father in-laws ham, egg and chips was good, even though the ham was crispy due to the hot plates.

I wasn't going to write a review as I believed the site managers that they were working hard to improve the site. What has prompted me to write however, is the amazing responses given by the manager to some of the reviews on here.
If someone feels that things are not right, I seriously doubt that by rubbishing their comments will encourage either a revised review or indeed prompt anyone to recommend the site.
We stayed early August 2013. The bungalow was very well maintained but was suffering from damp which affected clothes in the wardrobes etc but not enough to cause issues. The site itself has an incredible amount of potential but really does need improving at a quicker pace before repeat custom can be expected. The food in the restaurant was poor, served cold and then microwave reheated before being returned. I did get a refund and the staff were apologetic so I would not fault the service.
There was little in the way of entertainment and the outdoor pool requires a lot of work to bring it up to standard.
I appreciate that times are hard but I believe the costs of staying here are not reflected in the standard of the site.

Room Tip: Go for a bungalow...they look more recently updated. If you want to eat in the restaurant on your...

We had a good week at Honicombe Manor. Although the receptionist seemed very highly strung and frankly quite rude. But besides this the accommodation we were very pleased with and we had lovely views. They have a nice bar with good food could have more for children though. The pools were Ok needs new flooring in main pool and the outside pool a little like a building site not good to look at. They do have tennis and table tennis so that was good. Not ideal for a beach location holiday (but not to far to travel to one) but still much to do and lots of walks and wildlife.

Thank you for your review of your trip to Cornwall and we’re pleased to hear you had a good week at Honicombe.

We are making improvements across the site and one of the things we are working on is to improve the on site facilities including the pools.

Honicombe has some fantastic walks and natural sites on its doorstep and these give you the chance to see some of the fantastic wildlife in the Tamar Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As you mention, it’s also a great base for exploring some of Cornwall’s fantastic beaches and picturesque seaside towns.

We had a weeks stay in August. After reading all the reviews I did wonder what we had booked into. On arrival I did think omg its horrible as the road into reception looks like an army barracks but the receptionist was very helpful directing us to our lodge. The lodge we stayed in was privately owned valley lodge number 46 with a hot tub and i couldn't be more pleased, it was very clean, well equipped and the hot tub to die for. The view from the balcony was over fields. We had a problem first night with no electricity and even though it was privately owned the staff at reception sent someone within 5 mins to check and problem resolved straightway. The facilities i can't comment on as my children didn't use any but you can see that the park is being renovated and restored. It is a very quiet park. To use as a base to explore Devon/Cornwall it is perfect, we will be back.
