“Great Hotel and Restuarant in fantastic location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2010

Very comfortable hotel reasonably priced with an excellent restuarant. An excellent base for exploring this wonderful coastline either by foot or car. Staff are very helpful with a good sense of humour. Only downside no car parking though public (PAY) carpark nearby.

The Riverside Hotel was renovated after the great flood a few years ago. It was carefully renovated so you cannot tell any new additions and it kept its character and charme. Now, however, the rooms have all modern amenities, new bathrooms, flat screen TV,etc.

The hotel is situated directly next to the river, so you have to be aware that you will hear the stream day and night - very soothing if you ask me as it sounds like ongoing rain, but this might not suit everyone.

The room itself was kept very clean, the staff was friendly and welcoming. On my departure day, they went put of their way to accommodate me with some breakfast at 7:45, even though they only formally start serving at 8:30.

Diner there is great as well, especially the fresh seafood and the flame-broiled steaks.

The location is excellent for tours both to the coast path, Tintagel, etc. The busstop is only a few meters away.

Be aware of the parking. You'll need to leave the car at the public parking lot (cost was GBP 4.80 per day); parking there is free between 6 p.m. and 9:30 a.m.

I'll be back for sure.

The friendliness and quality of service experienced at this hotel entitle it to its 5 star rating. Nothing is too much trouble - from advice about parking to providing fresh milk in a thermos for drinks. Rooms were comfortable, recently decorated and had all the facilities required. Along with its ideal location for walking the coast path, this hotel is to be highly recommended.

A group of 7 of us went down for a friends 40th birthday. The hotel was first class, the owners and staff could not have been nicer. Nothing was too much trouble at all and the care and attention they give you at breakfast is outstanding.
I had 1 small problem, the maid had folded damp towels on the bed so i went down to see the manager on duty and within 3 minutes of getting back to my room i had warm clean towels delivered - now that is what i call service. Would stay at this hotel again - don't forget to visit the Cobweb - great Rattler1

An excellent hotel! Staff could not have been more friendly, cheerful and welcoming. Our room was spacious and the beds comfortable and everything was fresh and clean. We had been told the food was very good and we were not disappointed. Our evening meal was excellent value: the house wine very good indeed, and the service was excellent there too. As we had to leave very early in the morning we explained we would have to skip breakfast but were told an early start was not a problem and indeed it wasn't. We were treated to an excellent breakfast which set us up for our walk along the coast path. We were very impressed with the standard of facilities and service.

I have nothing but positive words for this excellent cozy hotel, situated in an environment of outstanding beauty. I am a big fan of small fishing harbours and this one is really nice. The cliffs are fantastic here, and nearby we visited King Arthur's Tintagel, Crackington haven and Millook haven, where the rock structure of the cliffs is highly unique, remarkable zigzag formations, one wonders what powers formed these. Not to forget the white-striped pebbles ... The Riverside Hotel Staff is very kind, the rooms are spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast is simply perfect. We had two very good evening meals at the Riverside Restaurant. This was my first stay in Cornwall and i want to see more of it, and when i go back i will definitely choose for the Riverside Hotel again as an ideal starting point for exploring the Southwest.
