“A magnificent experience and great value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

We stumbled across beautiful Boscastle and managed to get a late room at this hotel. Our room was so well appointed with all the trimmings of a 5 star hotel but without the price you'd expect. So much attention to detail made our stay very enjoyable indeed, with bath robes, beautiful furnishings and a room with real character. Staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We had a meal in the downstairs bar which was excellent and breakfast was delicious in the classy upstairs restaurant. Overall an extremely memorable experience for a couple of Aussies a long way from home.

Our stay in the hotel was for one night. We stayed at this hotel as it was badly damaged during the 2005 flood. The room was clean and spaced for a UK hotel. The room was clean, well presented and warm and beds were comfortable, , Meals were good and filling. Evening tallant was local singers and musicans singing folk somgs and ballads and was most enjoyable to listen, Our room faced the car park and it was noisy when patrons left late at night. However I did not find any drawbacks to add any further adverse remarks and would recommend this dwelling to others, Boscastle has always been a favourate place in our memory.

Stayed here for 2 nights & on the first night ate in the hotels restaurant. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented and could not fault any of the courses in any way, would definately eat here again when next in cornwall. The chef even came out to talk to us and let me sample his peanut butter ice cream (amazing!) All the staff without exception were friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, full english to smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and the girl who served us both days was just lovely. We stayed in room 23 right at the top of the hotel (not suitable for people with mobility problems) the bed was comfortable, everything you needed tea, coffe, biscuits etc and really nice toiletries in the bathroom. If we stayed again we would probably opt for a room on the 2nd floor as it would possibly have more head room as room 23 being at the very top has sloping ceilings, but this did not detract in any way from a very enjoyable stay.

To sum up, great for a break with great food, comfortable quiet rooms and friendly helpful staff..

Only spent one night here while walking the coast path, but we were made to feel really welcome.

This is a quaint, slightly quirky hotel with really friendly, helpful staff. I loved the list in our room of the previous, famous occupants - made me want to stay in some of the other rooms just to see who had gone before!

Our room was very nicely appointed, everything we needed (including a generously sized flat screen TV). Not only was a comfy bed provided for Alfie, our Chocolate Labrador, he also got his own drinking bowl and a doggie treat!

We ate our evening meal in the bar and the food was excellent. Breakfast was top quality. We were a bit pressed for time so I ordered a full English as we sat down - wish I had read the menu first and gone for one of the other scrummy items such as Eggs Benedict, or.. or...

Plenty of free parking at the hotel and a great position. Highly recommended.

We had stayed 4 or 5 years before and it was good. This trip was supposed to be 1 night booked through lateRooms, but it was so good (Room 3) we changed our plans and asked if we could stay another night, we had to move rooms as they were very busy, but the room for the 2nd night (Room 15) was even better! Great rooms, friendly staff, mega breakfast. We are coming back as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Room 15 was a neat double room at the top, and Room 3 was a spacious Twin.

Stayed here for the first time as central point of reunion with 2 schoolmates. We had first encountered Boscastle in 1977 when we walked through along the North Cornwall Coastal path. We illegally camped in the valley and found our tents "de-poled" when we retired from a long fruitful night at the Cobweb Inn.
The Wellington was(by contrast) very welcoming and excellent all round. Breakfast was wonderful, and the rooms were comfortable and quiet. Bar food was spot on, and all staff were so friendly and kind. A classic hotel for all.

We enjoyed staying at The Wellington. Staff all very pleasant and complimentary coffee in the lounge upon arrival was very welcome. Our first visit to Boscastle and we thought it a lovely place and if ever we return we would certainly stay at The Wellington again. Many thanks.
