“Can't sleep because of the noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2010

Clean, comfortable, well presented rooms. BUT, and this is a huge BUT, the noise in the room eminating from downstairs was unbearable. This was supposed to be an 'executive room'. Found via a website called 'Bespoke Hotels'. £129 per night. I expect a lot more then this for all that. If the advertising had hinted that my room would be located directly above a loud bar, disturbing us all evening, then we would not have stayed. Bar music thumping away till 11 friday night, and then saturday saturday night, a live band rattling the room until 12. Acceptable perhaps for 30 pounds per night in a cheap pub out in the sticks somewhere. But in a £129 per night so-called 'bespoke hotel'!?!?. No

I apologise for the noise eminating from the bar, and hope to put some extra sound proofing barriers in the flooring/ceiling in the near future. Apologies for the noise.

Stayed here too attend a course at the IDM recently which is next door. Based on the hotels tariffs and the website, I thought I would be checking into a quality hotel. Unfortunately this hotel is very disappointing and not good value for money. Checked in and found out my room was in the lodge next door. On the face of it, it all looked nice, corridors clean and modern. However my room ( a standard double) was probably not upto the same spec as a Premier Inn- the fitted wardrobes didn't open properly, stains on the worn carpet and a very small bathroom (which had seen better days!).

Settled in for the night but found even watching tv, the noise from the outside traffic and planes was extremely loud due to old windows with no double glazing. The room was very hot but didn't want the window open due to already loud external noises. Had dreadful sleep, pillows very soft and was awoken at 3am by loud voices and singing from drunks opposite the hotel on the main road. This went on for an hour!

Asked to be moved the next day and reception were very accommodating, can;t be the first time someone has complained about the noise! Moved into a room above the bar/restaurant which was classed as executive. This was better, much bigger and bed more comfortable. Only downside was there is no lift, so have to carry bags up two flights of stairs and the heating is constantly turned on in corridors so it is sweltering.

Breakfast at the hotel is good, especially the full english and staff seem very efficient. However would not recommend eating in the restaurant at night. I dined there three times and on all occasions, the staff were slow, inexperienced and pretty useless. One night took 2 hours for a 3 course meal,of which the pork was undercooked and had to be sent back! Evening meals are over-priced and small portions, I will be eating elsewhere when I have to stay again.

Also note, although parking is free, there is limited spaces and these fill up very quickly so advise checking in early.

Basically the place initially seems a good place to stay, good location, rooms are a decent size and they have a good pub in the next building. I point this out as when you see a picture of the place it looks really upmarket and in an old solid building. When we arrived however we were told to go to the back of the carpark as our room was in a block. Suddenly it felt more like a motel. In the room we had a large bathroom however the flooring was split soaking up so much water that it smelt really musty. Also there was black mould all over the shower hose.

Sleeping at night was extremely difficult, as they don't seem to have insulated the floor upstairs. Also we stayed next to the entrance door which had a steady stream of people slamming the doors up till about 5am. Then from 7am the room above sounded like an elephant had been let loose.

We didn't try the breakfast as we felt we had already paid too much money and to be perfectly honest after the price this place charges it would have been good to have it included as I'm sure mist people will also agree after staying here.

So if you do stay here and are staying in the new build block ask for a quiet room upstairs. If you are the owner reading this then "get some insulation or something!"

Thank you for your review, and we will investigate insulation between the different floors of the hotel, to see if needed. Hope to see you again soon.

I stayed here prior to a course with the IDM, which is located next door. The rooms were nice, digital tv, wireless etc however there were few downsides...

Despite it being the end of September the room was very hot/ stuffy and has no aircon. It did have a tiny fan but this didn't do much and you aren't given a free bottle of water/ fridge so I had to pay for big bottle mineral water.

Food was ok, but was very hard to get hold of anyone to order room service

Staff on reception were friendly but all quite new so they didn't tell me where breakfast was/ the wireless password/ couldn't confirm if I could leave car there following day/ check out took a while

I arrived at the Park Lodge at 1330 on Sunday 12th Sept. Knowing the check in time was 1400 we went to the bar for a quick drink. Lovely bar good service serving what looked to be nice food. At 1405 we head over to the reception to check in and were faced with a queue of 7 people! we joined the queue and were told along with everyone else no rooms are ready! We were going to the Heroes concert so wanted to get in the room asap quick change and off to Twickenham where the doors open at 1430!! no chance we were told to wait for 15mins!! 15 mins was a joke, at 1510! we finally went to our room. Not a great start at all. Room was fine not that we spent much time there. We didnt have the over priced breakfast so cant comment. Although would advise guests to go up the road for a good value breakfast we paid £4.50 each for a full english which did the job to send us on our journey home. I would use this hotel again but would call before arrival at least an hour before and make sure rooms is ready if you are going to any event or concert at Twickenham.

Stayed here to attend a wedding and found the hotel to be nicer than expected. The room was a reasonable size double, decor was what you'd find in a travelodge or premier inn, so there was a duvet instead of blankets on the bed which we much prefer and a flat screen tv. Tea & coffee maing facilities with shortbread biscuits was nice. The bathroom was nothing luxury but perfectly nice and clean. We were at the end of the coridor so didn't have any noise problems. Bed was comfy. Checkout was noon which we really appreciated, we don't often get a lie in so to not have to get up and out by 10 or 11 was bliss. We weren't up in time for breakfast at the hotel which stopped serving at 10, but we walked 2 mins into Teddington high st and found an Illy cafe where we had full engligh breakfasts for £3.90 each - totally recommend this rather than the expensive hotel breakfast which isn't included in the room. Including teas and fresh squeezed orange juice our breakfast for 2 cost the same as 1 breakfast at the hotel and it was really good quality, huge portion and nicely cooked. Overall, would def stay at this hotel again and would recommend to others - it's not a luxury hotel, but it's a great place to stay for a reasonable price. Oh, and internet was free in rooms, unlike many hotels that are 4 or 5 star but believe it's ok to charge for this.

If all the hotels staff where as good as this life would be a lot better for travelers.
The staff I encountered in this hotel where some of the best I have come across, pleasant, polite, willing to help and appeared to glad to help you.
The room was also very good and clean and spacious .
The food in the restaurant was also very good and my steak cooked to perfection.
The car parking was good also
The only downside was I was only in this hotel for one night
