The Lion has certainly been transformed from what it used to be, but it's not great. The food is variable, as are the staff. When the food is good, it's very good, but you can't bank on that (had undercooked and raw food served on occasion, but also love their burger). The wine is fantastic, but the beer is average and over priced. Good garden for the summer, but can be a bit filled with kids.
The Lion is definitely aimed at the older crowd, so don't expect an exciting night out (unless you're the older crowd I guess!).
In general, it's an ok pub as a local, but nothing to be raved about.
