Another visit to Britain and another early morning flight out of LHR. As soon as we booked our flights, I booked Yotel for the night before our departure.
Our flights home are always before noon from Heathrow, and staying anywhere else means getting up and finding transport to the airport a wee-hours ordeal. With Yotel we just check in in the evening, get a good night's sleep, wake up and take a quick shower and roll to the checkin desk an elevator ride away in terminal four.
As before we found check-in quick and easy (including two cups of hot chocolate that really hit the spot) and the staff member attentive and friendly. We did have a small issue after checking in when my husband plugged in our adaptor plug (which has a built-in surge protector) and the outlet failed, but in absence of the engineer (well-deserved Saturday night off) they simply switched us to a new room so we'd have plenty of outlets for charging, checking email, etc. The staff member was speedy and gracious about getting it taken care of.
Sadly our flight was delayed a couple of hours and upon discovering that at 6:00am when our alarm went off, we simply called the front desk to be sure our room was still available. It was, so for another £4 we went back to sleep. As always the room was spotless, efficient, well-stocked with what we needed (nice soaps, too), and a nice quiet place to get a good night's sleep. Checkout was quick and easy, too, and we were on our way to the airline desk in only a few minutes. They have great offerings of food and beverages for those who want to hunker down, but we always get out in the terminal for a sit-down meal and make as much of an "evening" of it as one can at Heathrow.
