The Sofitel is conveniently located adjacent to Terminal 5, which is a great relief for people who've just flown long-haul to London or who need to fly out without the hassle of lugging cases onto a shuttle bus prior to a potentially lengthy and circuitous drive to or from the airport. There is also a Tube station at Terminal 5 which is very accessible from the Sofitel.The hotel is easy to find if you're driving: just head for Terminal 5 itself, and keep left as you get to the Terminal and watch out for the "Sofitel" signs.

There is ample parking, which is subsidised for hotel guests. One gripe; however: why reserve the first spaces "for BMW drivers only"? OK, so the hotel has cut a deal with BMW to advertise their cars but please don't extend that arrangement to the inconvenience of those guests who don't drive a BMW, it's irritating.

The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the staff are really helpful. The rooms aren't huge but they are well-equipped and comfortable. They're also well-insulated from noise and have comfortable beds so you should get a good night's sleep. For London, the room rate is very good indeed. I paid £255 for mine in the happy knowledge that you can find yourself paying much more for a dirty shoebox elsewhere in the city.

We went to the French restaurant, the name of which escapes me. The food was pretty good if not very substantial. The bill was substantial though at £211 for 2 including wine, especially for the wine. If I have a criticism of the Sofitel (apart from BMW monopolising some of the car park spaces) it's that the "extras" can be expensive. Breakfast was pretty good with international appeal, although the ubiquitous "full English" was served buffet-style which is never good for food which depends on being freshly cooked in order to be edible.

The gym is really good and there are shops and other facilities on site. I'd definitely stay there again.

After a 20 odd hour flight from Sydney this hotel was, not knowing what expect, great for an overnight stay before jumping on another flight the next morning. Easily accessed from the main terminal the room was genuine five star and although I had to pay a bit extra for an early check-in it was well worth it. The bed was excellent as was the service and while being 'at' the airport didnt feel like it. Highly recommended.

I use this chain at Gatwick and other locations and I do like them. Very pricey at 300 quid for parking for three nights and a night with no breakfast.Crazy they charge for Internet !!!
I was upgraded to a deluxe room but wasn't allowed to use the facilities attached to the upgrade,so basically I was just given a slightly larger room. I think in future I will be using a different hotel from now on.
O,the upgraded room over looks the bloody lobby !! Crazy !!
Do love the TV in the bathroom though.
