“great stopover but some cutbacks evident”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Still an excellent deal for park and stay. Staff maintain their friendly demeanor and always asking to assist.

Bokked in as a Accor platinum card holder and was told I was upgraded. This was not obvious in the room or elsewhere. No conditioner provided and had to be requested. The same was true for slippers : a usual standard in Sofitel. Unlike their Gatwick sister, only two bottles of water, not four. Likewise LGW always offers its card holde r a gift, often a small box of quality chocolates, not here. I can only put this down to the economy, but it knocks one point off their score, as did the unavailability of one of the restaurants for an hour that evening.

Its all a bit of a pity because I so like their offering.

The hotel is convenient and lovely. I especially liked the link to the Underground and to other terminals at Heathrow. Comne to think of it, I also liked the quick link to Terminal 5 where I could go to a coffee shop. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet! I especially liked the hotel when USAir put us up there (for free!) when a flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, even the lower priced ones.

It's expensive is the Sofitel, but it's certainly handy for an early morning flight from Terminal 5.

The bed/bathrooms are semi-luxurious and the breakfast is one of the most amazing we've seen.

It's let down though by the gym facilties and the main restaurants which are just too overpriced and unappealing.

You can easily walk to and from Terminal 5 to the hotel. We came into London on an early evening flight from Paris. After clearing customs, ask directions for walking to the Sofitel. It is on a different level, but only 5 minutes. The room was really nice. The bathroom was really nice, too, but throw some towels on the floor because the shower can make the floor quite wet. It was totally quite in our room, and our wake-up call was reliable. We walked back to Terminal 5 the next morning, having never gone outside. This is the place to stay for overnight international connections.

The best part about this hotel is the walkway to terminal 5. But otherwise, it's new, which is nice, but it caters to business people. There's two expensive restaurants and a bar type cafe, that looks like a bar, not a cafe. However, the cafe (Tea 5) closes at 5 and the restaurants open at 6. I'm sure the prices aren't too high if your company is paying for room and meals, but $300 a night in January is a bit steep. Meals were also expensive and there's no place else to go. I would stay here again only if traveling from Terminal 5 and I had an early morning flight.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be located so that there's relatively no noise.

So convenient for Heathrow terminal 5. Very clean, good sized rooms with good amenities. The layout is a little strange and can be confusing the first time you stay. This is mostly because the hotel is only a few stories high, I assume because it's so close to the airport. It's a bit like a normal hotel that has fallen on its side.

Easy access from Heathrow T5 (10 minute walk, and you don't need to go outside). Hotel is new and beautiful. Great bedrooms and bathrooms, everything works. Staff is polite and responsive, and seem genuinely friendly.

Hotel is quite expensive for an airport hotel, and it is inexcusable that they charge GBP15 for a high-speed broadband connection. There is a "free" internet option, but it is so slow that it is less than useless. High speed broadband should be free. ARE YOU LISTENING SOFITEL?

Room Tip: If you need to use your mobile phone, consider an "exterior" room. I couldn't get a T...
