“Does a good job of making the soulless personal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

I've stayed here scores of times now for work and holiday travel, though to be frank given the sheer blissful convenience of it being connected via a 3 minute covered walkway to T5, it could be a complete fleapit and I'd still use it. Thankfully, it's not a fleapit at all. The rooms are spacious, clean and well-equipped. Wifi isn't free, which is somewhat annoying given the price of the rooms in this day and age. £6 for an hour, or £15 for 24 hours. On the other hand, the beds are epic - amazingly comfortable. I want one...

The staff are friendly and helpful, and extremely proficient at processing you quickly at reception - good when you've arrived travel-stained from the far corners of the world and want to get straight to a shower, a G&T, some food and bed; and good first thing in the morning when you have to be up at a godless hour for a red-eye flight.

Don't be surprised if you get free upgrades to superior rooms upon check-in - this has happened to me on numerous occasions, and is a small, unexpected and very pleasant surprise every time.

A place like this could so easily be a soulless shell processing human traffic. Sofitel have done a good job making it feel a little more human and personal than that. I'll stay nowhere else when passing through London - and it's worth bearing in mind that using the Heathrow Express to Paddington, you're less than 30 minutes from town - and somewhere significantly cleaner and cheaper than many central hotels.

Thought I would treat husband and I to the Sofitel since we were travelling without the kids. Perfect location for T5. Check in was efficient and receptionist friendly. Hotel was clean, very modern and very quiet. Room was comfortable, lovely comfy chair in there. Can't comment on evening meal since we ate in the terminal but buffet breakfast was lovely and off good quality and selection. Great being able to walk to T5 via the walkway and not have to use transport. Would use this hotel.

The service was decent; staff did not know much about London Neighborhoods and attractions. Hotel was very clean but the rooms were quite small.

Stayed here the night before we flew back to the U.S. from a visit to London. The room--which was a third the price of our room in London at One Aldwych--was large, clean, modern, and quiet, like the hotel. The hotel's pretty big and has the feel of a scene from a science fiction movie with all the glass and metal trim--perhaps where the Rollerball players stay the night before the game. Had drinks and appetizers in the bar. The appetizers were from the restaurant and were very good. Bottom line--highly recommended.

Have stayed here many times, good for location and the hotel is always clean and comfortable. Breakfast has everything you could want at breakfast. Downside I found the concierge a wee bit slow waited 20 mins for our bags to be brought from our room and when your on your way to the airport you need them quicker than that.

The hotel is literally attached to T5. I had to stay for a night for an early morning connection to Europe. Sofitel is very convenient. You get out of baggage claim and its about a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

The hotel seems quite big and cavernous. There were lots of rooms. I got the room on the last corridor and almost the last room in that corridor. So it was about a 5 minute walk to the room from the reception.

The room itself is what you would expect. Nothing exceptional but a standard room in a 5 star chain hotel. The internet was not free so keep that in mind. The hotel also did not have too many meal options so I walked to T5 to the Italian restaurant in the departure lounge.

This is a good option if you need to stay the night near the airport.

Stayed one night before my wife and I flew out to NYC to celebrate my 40th birthday. Easy to find from T5 and about a 5 minute walk to the terminal, all enclosed. On arriving we were upgraded from the classic room booked to a superior room. Oh my! Much larger room with comfy chair and marbled bathroom with walk in shower. Thanks Sofitel for a great start of my birthday weekend - we'll be back next year.
