“It only seems to improve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

Since last visit little has changed in rooms, public spaces etc. The y are still commodius, clean and well appointed.

The key new element seems to be in the staff who really make the hotel shine. All from front desk on seem to go out of their way to assist and add that extra something. This marks a good hotel.

Stay and park is one of the main reasons to use this as a base for an early flight.

I would add the call for free WiFi.

Hotel is modern clean and the ideal place to relax before or after long-haul flight. The rooms are quiet spacious and beds so comfy. It was a quick stop so no time to eat any meals or check out the facilities but was very impressed with location and the ability to walk to my check-in desk. I am looking forward to returning and pleased the Sofitel chain have this new hotel for T5.

Room Tip: If you are on tight budget take your own bottled water and snacks! Guess this is the world over??

We've stayed here several times whilst traveling thru Heathrow. The beds are dreamy, huge bathrooms, big rooms, great food in the restaurants.

My only complaint is that the Internet fees are ridiculous and there is no free access in the lobby areas. This is so disappointing. Sofitel is already at a premium price compared with other hotels in the area...not offering free WiFi in the lobby is really tacky.

Positives:
- location (it's basically "in" Terminal 5 - well - a 10 minute walk away indoors)
- clean, stylish, food options and bar options
- spa (therapy pool, massage, relaxation area)

Negatives:
- none really - pricy - but then - that's any hotel within 2 miles of Heathrow :-)
- it's a tiny bit stiff or formal and I'm not sure why

Certainly worth a stay if:
- you're passing through and need a place due an awkward flight time
- someone else is paying :-)

This modern tastefully designed and decorated hotel is an absolute pleasure. Every member of staff we met was charming, helpful and courteous.
They had prepared our room especially with rose petals, strawberries and chocolate and a card congratulating us on our wedding.
Fabulous start -Thank you Sofitel!

We stayed here twice in the month of October. Each stay was overnight and in both cases was necessitated by awkward fight times.

In the first instance we flew in fom Abu Dhabi and arrived in the evening, too late to continue our journey. The hotel is easily accessed from Terminal 5 (once you find the walkway that is) which in turn is easily reached by using the express train from terminal 4 (and it's free!).

On that occasion we felt the reception lady could have been more friendly, more welcoming. I note that several other reviewers comment on the cold reception they also received. However it was efficient and we were shown to a very comfortable and well appointed room.

Feeling somewhat knackered after our flight we wandered down to the bar area, which is huge and very comfortable, and ordered two gins and tonic. These were excellent and so we gladly ordered two more - you could say we greatly enjoyed the ambience. I can also say that this is a top-class hotel so we did expect top prices for the g & t's and we weren't disappointed. However, what the hell, we enjoyed them!

On our second visit we were accompanied by friends (who came to see us off) and we arrived around Sunday lunch time. We asked the waiter to recommend something light for lunch and he suggested the soup, which indeed was excellent. On this occasion we found the reception and bar staff to be very friendly, whch enhanced our stay.

This is a very large (we got lost at least four times!)and somewhat expensive hotel but for travellers wanting first-class accomodation in an ultra-convenient location you couldn't do any better.

Room Tip: This is an airport hotel for people in transit. As far as we could tell all the rooms are much of a...

I expected much, much better but when I checked the room for cleanliness, I found the mattress to be suspect in the seams with either dirt or dark lint. The sheets were torn and the the top sheet had holes. The sink in the bathroom had hair in it. And the drain did not function in the sink. Shower did drain effectively. I had to get up the next morning for a long flight in the early AM so I stayed there anyway. The tea in the restaurant in the lobby really has no idea of what a good scone and clotted cream is. The clotted cream was better on my flight the next day! I will not be staying again. I think I will just get a car and go into London where I can get so much more for my money.

Dear Reviewer,

I was most disappointed to learn of your experience and ask that you contact me directly, as knowing your date of stay and room number would be most helpful. My direct e-mail is Vincent.Madden@Sofitel.com

Regarding the cleanliness I am both shocked and humbled. We have a rigorous cleaning and checking system and I am very proud of both our standards and reputation on quality. Our “My Beds” do have three different layers or sheets between the guest and the mattress but regardless, I can assure you that each mattress is turned, vacuumed, or steamed at very regular, documented intervals. By knowing your room number I can track this and fully investigate.

The clotted cream we use is from an artisan dairy in the South West, we have been very happy with the quality however we have contacted them in relation to your feedback.

Thank you for your comments and I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Yours sincerely
