Good price. £190, 4 nights, twin room inclusive of buffet breakfast. There was a great selection covering pretty much anything one could wish for in the morning.
A low rise red brick complex with ample car parking. Free WiFi in public areas (reception, restaurant, bar) simply did not work on either of two phones or a laptop, so I guess it just does not work. Good sized rooms with very tired decor and an abundance of mahogany-stained furniture.
The carpet in the room bore burn marks from an iron (not included) and worryingly a large area below the wall mounted fan heater.
There was an old style CRT TV in the room as well as a Freeview box providing multichannel TV but no instructions as to how to work them.
Plenty of tea and coffee to go with a kettle that wouldn't switch off by itself (maybe because the flex was held together with electrical tape?)
Plenty of hot water to fill the bath which was crowned with a black mould and plenty of cracks in the ceiling to look at when lying back in the suds. The card operated front door opened freely - without a card - and the fire exit was permanently propped open.
The location is not great. You need to walk for fifteen minutes to get to the nearest tube/train station or drive there.
Same goes for eating somewhere other than the hotel restaurant. Also there is no need for a morning wake up call, the planes coming over at 200 feet on the way to Heathrow will take care of that, starting at 6AM.
I just can't recommend this place, really it is hampered by it's location but more importantly is desperately in need of renovation.
