“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We stayed here for a night before our holiday.
Hotel is in a great location, staff were friendly, rooms were nice.
Parking was easy.
Highlight for me (as weird as this sounds) was the huge bath towels. I hate when most hotels give you tiny little towels to use. Here the towels were nice and big!

Was there for a night and the hotel was super busy at any hour given so many airlines use it for their staff.

The executive lounge was bit disappointing. Breakfast ended quite early for weekend. The runway views are amazing.

Nothing at all to complain about, we stayed here before flying off the following morning and will definitely stay again.
The car park is secure with plenty of empty spaces.
Check in was quick and easy, car parking was double checked for us.
The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, even though we had a room facing the runway the noise was not too bad, good view too.
We ate dinner in the restaurant not the buffet, the food was lovely and the waiter very helpful and chatty. There is a good choice on the menu and not badly priced either.
The upstairs is going to be refurbished, but even as it is it is not too shabby.

The hotel, the staff were brilliant and our room were very good. We pre-purchased the buffet meal and really wish we hadn't! We noticed people eating food in the bar and wondered why...soon found out and is what we would do if there was a next time.

It all sounded fine on the web site but in reality .... The fish of unknown origin was so over cooked it was inedible, the meat was a disaster and the vegetables like the good old days of school dinners - frozen veg boiled to death! No other options....hardly a gourmet paradise!

Room Tip: Order a pizza or a burger in your room!

I too stayed in this hotel on the night of 23rd Nov. We were part of a London Weekend coach trip with dinner, bed and breakfast inclusive. The rooms were OK (ours was interior, our friends had a runway view) but the corridors are far too long and poorly signposted, as were the fire exits. Some of the facilities in our room were missing (toiletries, dressing gowns etc. compared with others on our coach) - but we had brought our own so din't pursue.
The food was barely average - fresh salad for starters and a choice of fish or chicken for main. The fish was OK (if under-seasoned) but the chicken stew was horrible. Didn't bother with the desserts as they looked to be loaded with sugar & hydrogenised fat. Bar prices prohibitive.
And the fire alarm at 5am was so badly organised it beggared belief. People were milling around the over-long corridors with never a fire warden in sight - and the assembly point - directly in front of the hotel, - is just plain daft. No explanations as to cause of the alarm as still no staff in evidence outside either. And the return to the lifts was not controlled so once again people were milling about aimlessly or climbing over each other to bag a place.
On the plus side, the rooms are soundproofed enough for sleep and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice.
So although it is very close the the airport, so are plenty of other hotels and I would check those out first before staying here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the lifts, otherwise you have a long walk

Although the title of my review is 'chaos', I must say that the hotel is very nice and friendly with a lot of super staff. There were six of us in the party and we were part of an organised trip to see a matinee performance of Dirty Dancing at the Piccadilly Theatre (brilliant!). When we arrived at the hotel we were given our rooms and instructions for the evening, which was a bonus, no queuing up at reception. We quickly changed and went for the evening meal which turned out to be quite disappointing for a hotel of this calibre. only three choices of buffet main meal consisting of fish, pasta or stew. As we were all hungry we made the most of the few vegetables on offer and went to the evening disco which was down below ground level. Shock! No bar down there. We all went back upstairs and had a couple of drinks before retiring to bed. At around 4.30am the fire alarm went off and everyone began the evacuation. The only thing was that there was no member of staff to be seen anywhere around the corridors or stairs and consequently everyone bunched up around the stair exits. If this had been a real fire and not a question of someone pressing the wrong button (which we were told later) I fear that there would have been a lot of casualties. There were a lot of elderly people left outside in their nightwear on a very cold and early Sunday morning. Hopefully, the management will be looking at their fire training and evacuation procedures as a matter of urgency.

I can not blame the hotel for the fact that there was a fire alarm at 5.00 h, or that the breakfast was not ready at 6.00, and therefore we had to leave without breakfast, but the unprofessional attitude of the management, reflecting on the behaviour of the personel is astonishing.
We arrived at this hotel because our flight was cancelled, There was a queue of more than 50 people, and only one person willing to handle the demands. The reason they explained was that when more people were handling the demands there would be double bookings.
The quality of the food in the restaurant was poor, even to British standards. The man at the restaurant was not willing to give us a table, so called because the tables were not clean.
The rooms were very small and basic.
We felt to be handled like cattle instead of guests at this hotel, and felt not at all welcome in this hotel.
