“a room with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

we stayed at the renaissance for two nights. rooms were clean. bed was comfatable. a large bathroom. the main reason i stayed there was the view from the window. heathrow airport. if you like airplanes or just want to watch the world go buy this is the place to stay.
check in was quick and efficent. nice staff in the bar. the only small draw back the lifts were always busy in the morning and not very fast but you have to expect that at a busy hotel. also there was wi-fi in the room but you have to pay for it and it is expensive

Room Tip: ask for a view of the airport

It did what was needed - little more
Really busy with comings and goings all night long - I guess that's what you should expect
But the room was comfortable - we did just fine

We stayed two nights at this hotel based on finding a good rate. Family of 5 sharing two rooms.

Close proximity to Heathrow, and free public transit to get you there.

The hotel has only a couple floors but each floor is quite large. Long walk from the lobby.
Rooms were spacious enough by European standards. They were clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms are showing their age, and could use an update.

Our rate included breakfast at the buffet. It was large, pleasant, and the food was good. Cooked to order eggs was a plus.

There is nothing in the surrounding area except a McDonald's if you want to eat or explore outside the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room nearer to the lobby.

This hotel was a real find. It's only a stone's throw from Terminal 1 and it's served by both the Hoppa bus and also free busses pass outside the entrance. For an accidental booking it was a great find.

The lobby was spacious with plenty of seating. There is a Starbucks cafe with an entrance from the lobby. There was enough people manning reception to make it exceptionally fast and very friendly.

The lift was exceptionally slow. The room was not big but it wasn't cramped either. The bed was a good size and comfortable. There air-conditioning was easily controlled and the lighting was pleasant. The TV was contained in a cupboard so that when you wanted to watch a programme you had to open the doors. These proved to be a distraction as they intruded on your viewing. Otherwise the room was clean and well-maintained.

The bathroom was clean. Everything looked polished and neat. The towels were big and and were kind to the skin. There was an uninterrupted supply of warm water and the controls on the shower worked well.

I was sorry I was only staying overnight. It was a good experience.

My wife and I stayed here for one night after returning back from holiday abroad. The room was on the small side but it was clean and of a reasonable standard. The location of the hotel is excellent for heathrow.
The major down side of the hotel for myself and wife was having spent 18 hours travelling the previous day and finally getting to bed in the hotel we were woken up the following morning at 7am by someone coming into our room (even with the privacy switch on). This was a nasty suprise at that time of the morning. Then again at 8am another/same person came into the room, this time I got up to find it was the room maid. I reported this to reception and they said sorry for what had happened but as we had paid for the room via an agency they could offer us nothing. This was not a good experience and I would of expected more from an Hotel of this standard. So apart from someone coming into your room in the night the hotel is good.

My wife and I stayed overnight at the hotel prior to transferring to Dover to board a cruise ship. The room was adequate, a little on the small size, clean, with comfortable beds. We slept well. Bathroom was also on the small size, but quite adequate and clean. Breakfast was not included, but we asked at the desk for special discount on breakfast, and obtained vouchers for a great buffet breakfast for only GBP10 per person. We had dinner at a very good pub only a block away from the hotel (The Three Magpies), which I would heartily recommend. The food was good, the place pleasant and the prices reasonable.
