“Keep away from room 110 ”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

Booked the travelodge for a 1 night stay in Dec as I was delivering my Xmas presents in nearby St. Helens. the room was clean and had been refurbished since the last time I stayed, however the tv in the room was tiny and the picture was awful definitely needs updating as you couldn't even get a menu on it and when u did get a picture it stretched the picture so you couldn't see the peoples heads on the TV programmes. After a long day visiting family we went back to the room to chill out with our 2 ur old son who soon fell asleep. Around 10:30pm a really loud noise started coming from the bathroom and continues for about an hour, I went to reception to complain only to be told that it was the water pipes and they were aware of the noises yet still put customers In the room. My son was now wide awake and was not happy and the receptionist said I would have to wait to see if there were any room free for us to move as she needed to contact head office. After 15 min she came back and said we could move to a room upstairs. We quickly packed our stuff and carried a very tired 2 year old upstairs. The new room was identical to the noisy room however the tv was a lot bigger and the only noise you could hear was cars on the busy east lancs road which you expect.

I booked this for a business trip, the company booked three rooms. To start with this place was very hard to find, and when speaking with the receptionist who was trying to give directions, well let's just say they were not very helpful.

We arrived late in the evening, the standard of the rooms were not very good, one room the vents were broken in the windows so the outside traffic was heard throughout the night.

The second room the shower was not working properly luckily the bath was ok so decided to bath instead, in saying that the bath was small to say the least.

There was a noise which repeatedly went off throughout the night, maybe a heating system of fire system bleeping.

I did make a complaint in the morning, the receptionist was pleasant and apologised and wrote this all on a notebook. I have not heard anything since and will follow it up tomorrow after hearing nothing today.

Stayed here for one night on the way to the Lakes.
It's been nicely refurbished & was very comfortable.
It seems to be the policy of budget hotels not to provide hairdryers, but I believe you can borrow one from reception. The bathroom hairdryers were never much good anyway.
The Little Chef was OK for an evening meal & breakfast & we had a discount as we were staying in the hotel.
We also had difficulty finding the hotel, so better signage from the road would have helped.

We were on holiday from Australia and were visiting relatives and friends in the area, we stayed at the haydock travelodge, St.Helens and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were warm and clean with tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly, if you needed anything you just had to ask. The Little chef and burger king were on the doorstep and a pub restaurant just across the road. Many thanks to Eileen, staff and the manager.

Room Tip: The family rooms are great value for money.

Booked an early check in so we could be there for 12 and sort ourselves out before our day. Followed the direction instructions from their website but at 1pm gave up and had to ask passers by where it is. It was situated behind a petrol station but no signs to say it was there. Very obscure and confusing! When we got there the receptionist made us wait while she checked if our room was ready even though we arrived over an hour after check in. Hotel itself is ok I suppose but very basic, no hair dryers in the room! No bars nearby and the only thing to eat was little chef which had to close early. We decided to leave after a few hours and find somewhere else

Great price hotel, clean and excellent bed. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Only downside was having to walk through the smokers smoke at the entrance each time we went in and out of the hotel - not pleasant. A smokers area should be put away from the enter acne.
