“Lovely food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Called into rags for something to eat. On arriving we were greeted by a member of staff who then showed us upstairs to a table we were given the menus which included specials, two for £10 and the regular menu, my hubby ordered burger and i ordered a roast dinner the food was lovely and my hubby's burger was massive and all homemade I would recommend this place

the rags hotel does not take after its name. it was easy to locate and the parking was brilliant, they even let us park the day we checked out, the hotel room was nicely decorated and had every thing we needed, a bit of damp on the ceiling in the bathroom but mostly ok. the staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. the lattes are yummy . thr breakfast was very nice but the tomatoes were too runny, i would deffo return

Stayed here many times, very helpful staff as we have a 6 month old baby couldn't do enough. Brilliant food not the cheapest but well worth it. Very close to town centre so leave your car in their car park and walk to town
Going back in oct have advised family to stay they were as impressed as we were and will be using them for years to come

When arranging to meet a friend after work on Weds I suggested we try Rags as it was handy for us both & we hadn't been in since the refurbishment earlier this year. To say it was early doors & midweek it was busy & we only managed to get a table because there were only two of us. Although the new décor is nice enough but not what we would have chosen it has still maintained that nice welcoming feeling & the friendly attentive staff served our drinks and provided us with menus & left us to make our choice.

There were 3 menus to choose from so something to suit everyone plus Specials on the board. We opted for the Pub menu & my lasagne & garlic bread was just to my taste & my companion pronounced her Penne pasta with goats cheese & red peppers "absolutely delicious". Both portions were plentiful & good value for money.

One suggestion I would like to make is that the toilets also carry traditional signs as well as the funky ones they have. Before we left we visited the Ladies - which has a pair of red lips on the door - and an elderly gentleman followed us in. He had asked where the toilets were & been told "over there in the corner". Seeing two doors - one says "One for the boys" which he assumed was for staff & us going in the other door he thought that that was the way to the toilets which is understandable. It was noticeable that most of the clientele when we were there were pensioners so I wouldn't be surprised if the present signs have caused confusion before.

To sum up a good value, tasty meal served by friendly obliging staff in pleasant surroundings whilst being able to watch the boats in the harbour too which all made for a very relaxing evening.

This was in the ideal position in Bridlington, it was strange on arriving on a Sunday afternoon and going in the bar to ask where the hotel reception was, 2 side steps and there it was! also in the bar.
The room you accessed outside and were over some shops next to the bar. The room was fine lovely black out curtain, but with a prom view, we thought net curtains should be at the windows as the bus stopped higher up and everyone starred in. The hotel is down a slope on the harbour. Other than that the room was ok
The bar was great, alot of the locals seem to eat and drink there, did not try the food but looked fantastic and I am sure it was, as the breakfast was spot on.
Went to a lovely Chinese up the road, which a local lady recommended which was fantastic, I will be going back to Bridlington for a 2 night stay, one to eat at the hotel and one to eat at the Chinese, not forgetting all the fantastic fresh fish and chip shops

Room Tip: Although nothing wrong with the rooms I can only give an average as I did feel they need some TLC

Called on on spec for drink and ordered lunch. Partner went for crab and prawn bloomer which was crammed food. For me Great BLT, fresh tomatoes, lovely fresh ciabatta bread, and lovely piece of cooked bacon, crispy bit not dried up.. Noteworthy, hence my review.
