“Getting better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Everything was fine here and, from the look of it, getting better. The Swan is under new ownership and its restaurant was a distinct improvement on our last visit a few years ago. The rooms are still awaiting a refurb (due to happen in 2014, I think) and will doubtless benefit from it. All in all, this is a very acceptable place to stay without being in any way special or spectacular. My only gripes were the number of dishes unavailable on the menu at dinner, and the coffee at breakfast (which was disgusting).

Room Tip: Our room had a river view, with a balcony area, which we appreciated even in December.

Overall, it was a nice hotel with a good breakfast and service but the hotel needs some modernisation. The room we had was a good size but the styling was a bit dated. Good waterfront location and cute village.

What a charming hotel - right on the water's edge. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the standards of service and facilities were good. Breakfast was very nice. Not cheap, but quality has it's price. I look forward to a return visit.

Very hard to fault this place. Me and my boyfriend stayed in one of the riverside suites, lovely view, huge room and nicely presented. There was a bit of mould over the bay windows but it didn't affect the stay. Also only two pillows on the bed but I still slept very comfortably.
The spa was wonderful- warm and inviting and we were the only people in it most of the time!
As for the restaurant, the portion sizes were very generous. Wild Mushrooms on toast was beautiful. Very spacious building. But my favorite part- the amazing service. Every single member of staff we encountered had a smile on their face and was friendly and helpful. Would recommend to everyone.

You can't get much closer to the river, gorgeous setting, so romantic, big hotel with lots of winding corridors. Rooms were adequate. Again very warm and welcoming. Lots of history here, with various owners. Lovely glass restaurant, food was a bit of a let down for the price, and a very noisy dining room. There was a party going on, but wooden floors and no curtains do not help with the acoustics. Great watching a boat tie up and come in for the night. Although they did do a deal on bed breakfast and dinner.

Room Tip: Try and get a balcony room to look out over the river at night...excellent.

I loved our stay at the Swan at Streatley. The area was gorgeous and the dining area had a magnificent view of the river. The hotel staff were also exceptional. The only reason I give this only three stars is the price and the strange layout of the room. Out of the entire trip (we stayed in several areas around the UK) this was the most expensive hotel by far. The room was very large and clean but the ambiance was ruined by a large flat panel TV on a giant awkward stand sitting in the middle of the room with wires and cables dangling all over. Like stated previously the dining area and surrounding riverside was gorgeous but not really worth double the price in my book.

Last weekend we held a family tea party celebration at The Swan for my son's 2nd birthday. This had been planned for months and I had changed numbers and arrangments several times but Lou Rollason the Events Co-ordinator could not have been more helpful or patient.

We visited a little while before the party to try out the afternoon tea and view the room we had booked and received outstanding service from everyone concerned. The afternoon tea was delicious too!

On the day of the party everything was in place ready for us when we arrived and we were yet again not disappointed by the quality of the food or the service we received. My little boy and my family had a brilliant time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Swan or use them again for events or celebration in the future!

MASSIVE thank you to everyone involved!
