Stayed here for one night.
The downside
our room was expensive at 450 pounds a night! we stayed in the
oarsman, a ground floor suite, created out of a river side cottage.
For the money, you would have expected a bigger bathroom. Not a bath you have to step into to shower. There is another suite above you, and you can here them walking around. The Yamaha music system is very tricky to operate, a standard cd player would be better. I'd also expect satellite TV on the gigantic pop up flat screen TV. Outside you can here the ever present hum of the motorway in the background. You can't hear the motorway in the room or restaurant.

Everything else about the room is EXCELLENT. Comfortable beds, bathrobes and nice toiletries. High quality tea and coffee facilities, fresh fruit, biscuits.
The bathroom and small kitchen window look out on to the the neat cottage garden, and out on to the Thames. You can see row boats and motor boats passing whilst you eat your breakfast / shower.
Service is excellent. Whilst we were away in the restaurant, the
maid tidied up the room, and our clothes were folded in neat
piles in the wardrobe. That hasn't happened in a hotel
recently ! The restaurant is very good with attentive
staff and a wine list the size of a telephone director. It wasn't
too stuffy, and I was not the only one not wearing a jacket.
The menu was expensive, 43pounds for a main course. The portions were not very big, but I still fell full up at the end of
the evening. Food was good. All the bottled water was free.
Breakfast was served in the room, which consisted of
pastries and cornflakes or weetabix.
The inn is also a short walk away from the famous
fat duck restaurant and two pubs.
I suggest you try for a discount on the room rate :)

Myself and mywife have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Waterside Inn, Bray.
We stayed in the "la Tamise" bedroom which shared a private terrace overlooking the Thames. Room was light and airy and very pleasant and spacious.
We ate in the 3 Michelin stars restaurant on the Saturday night. The meal was excellent. We had the menu gastronomic which was a well balanced exciting menu.
Yes the drinks are expensive but lets put it into perspective. 3 michelin stars, an idylic setting and the most impressive thing of all was the service. Diego the manager is so pleasant you cannot stop yourself from smiling. But the service from all the French staff is superb. I did not see or meet 1 English person. It was like being in France. Superb food, location and a great experience. We shall return.

We booked in at the Waterside Inn for a Saturday night so we could stay after a meal in their Michelin starred restaurant. Unfortunately, our stay at this Relais & Chateaux hotel was anything but peaceful or luxurious.

The worst part of the hotel was the staff. I think I can best demonstrate how bad they were with examples. When we requested an additional pillow for the bed we had to wait 30 minutes and make 2 phone calls to reception before they delivered it. The pillow they brought was extremely old and could best be described as lumpy. The staff made all sorts of noise in the morning waking us up at 7am. They were stamping down the hallway (where the 8 bedrooms were), banging doors, crashing crockery and hoovering outside our bedroom door! There was absolutely no way to sleep in. They also attempted to clean our room before we checked out (how difficult is it to know if the customer has checked out when there are only 8 rooms). After serving us breakfast in our room they then called us to ask us to put the dishes outside the door for them (even though they knew we would be checking out within an hour or so).

Overall we would not recommend you stay here, in fact we would strongly discourage you.

We visited the Waterside Inn for evening dinner and an overnight stay.

I arrived back to reality 2 days ago, yet, i am still blow away by the quality of service this beautiful establishment offers.

From the moment you walk through the door it becomes obvious that the number one priority is you and the experience and service you receive.

As soon as we walked into the bedroom i felt like i never wanted to leave. I was dreading morning coming because then i had to go. Until then, i was treated like i should imagine any celebrity would be.

The dinner was as you would expect from any establishment run by the Roux family. Quality, precision and dedication going into every dish.

This evening away was never going to be cheap and what with getting quite an affection to one number on the wine list it became all more expensive, however, i do not regret one penny spent. The resteraunt has three Michelin stars, an achievement that does not come easily and is not easily maintained.

I shall look back on this experience with great happiness, much longer than any fond memories of a week in Spain could ever provide me with, that is until i revisit, the beautiful and glorious Waterside Inn

My husband booked us in for dinner and overnight at the Waterside Inn for my 40th birthday in September. We were lucky enough to pick a really beautiful September day so were really able to take advantage of the great setting by the river.

There is a fantastic outdoor terrace where we enjoyed a couple of drinks before going back to the room to get ready for dinner. The restaurant overlooks this terrace and the river and has doors that slide fully open. During daylight hours the restaurant did not look terribly impressive and the décor felt a little dated.

The rooms, to be honest, were a bit of a disappointment to us although I have to stress that we were staying in one of the cheaper (although certainly not cheap) rooms. Our room was really tiny with only just enough room to walk around the bed. The furniture and fittings however were of the highest standard, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the service was exemplary but I guess that this is the biggest difference between somewhere like Le Manoir and here. The Waterside clearly markets itself as a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel i.e. the emphasis is very much on the dining experience and as long as you go with this in mind (or unless you book a larger room), you will not be disappointed.

Dinner was absolutely superb and the restaurant seemed to look completely different in the evening and very much nicer than it had appeared during the day. We drank champagne on the terrace before dinner which was lovely. The service, as to be expected, was outstanding and personally we found it neither overbearing nor stuffy. We didn’t think that the wine was too expensive and we found that the food was of very generous portions and very unpretentious – very different to Le Manoir where the portions are smaller although there tend to be more courses. We chose to take coffee and petit fours (which were truly amazing) in our room.

Breakfast the following morning was also served in our room (the only option available) with a bottle of champagne and although only continental, it had the most amazing pastries.

All in all we had a very relaxing time and felt thoroughly spoiled but have decided that, although we will definitely go back again for a meal (lunchtime in summer would be wonderful) we would probably not stay over again unless the convenience factor won out.
