On arrival you are greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff who will talk you through what to expect if you have never been before. The visitors centre is very well stocked, everything from bird seed to high end binoculars, oh and they have ice lollies!! There is a café upstairs serving home cooked food (we didn't try this ourselves as we had sandwiches but it smelt good). The visitor centre also has clean toilet blocks.
Once you get out onto the reserve you are faced with a few easy to follow well maintained walking routes with an abundance of hides around every bend, the hides can get quite busy but you'll usually find a spot. There is certainly enough wildlife around to keep you entertained for a good while.
The sun was shining while we were there which made the walks all the more pleasant, we heard a Bittern (quite rare here apparently) but didn't manage to catch a glimpse of it unfortunately, maybe next time!
If you have little ones there are a variety of activities for them so they will not be bored.
RSPB Reserves are well worth the visit, some charge a small fee others are free, but overall you'll never be disappointed.
