“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2011

A really friendly welcome and excellently placed for public transport to Stockport and beyond. A very good breakfast too (extra cost). The only downside was when other guests set off the fire alarm one morning but I don't think you can blame the hotel for that.

This is a fairly standard Premier Inn. Clean, comes with a bar/restaurant attached...the usual stuff. The thing that sets this place apart though is the incredibly friendly staff, not just reading out the standard corporate friendliness lines. Other than that fairly typical.

This was our 1st stay at this particular Premier Inn and it's definately one of the best we'd tried so far.
Despite being fairly close to the main road, the traffic noise was not a problem (even though we slept with the window open).
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meal deal was really good value (3 course dinner plus drink, plus full breakfast for £22 per head).
We'll definately be using this hotel again.

Having over the past few years, I with my wife have stayed in guite a few Premier Inns, this one stands out as one of the best.
Having a disability problem, the staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble, facilities for the disabled traveller are excellent .
Short or long stay I can certainly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: State your needs and the staff will be more than helpful

The previous reviewer who complained about the road noise must have slept on the roof of his car!

I was there from August 26th to August 30th, also on the first floor overlooking the car park, and didn't hear any road noise at all, even with the window open. The hotel is on the A6 after all, which might just give a bit of a clue that it is a main road where HGV's are not entirely unexpected.

I'm surprised that they didn't complain about the chiming bells of St Thomas's church on Hillgate which can be heard, but only faintly, every hour.

The room was perfectly adequate for a short stay, the tea and coffee things in the room were topped up every day, the bed linens were fresh and clean and the bathroom was warm and spotless.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and when they learned that I was in Stockport visiting my Dad who was in a local hospital, they asked how he was each time I returned to the hotel.

As for the room being "basic" as the previous reviewer described it, what do they expect for a base price of £29 per night, the Dorchester?

For a short stay, in a clean, friendly, comfortable hotel, this place ticks all the boxes.

The staff in both the hotel and restaurant next door (attached) were very pleasant and friendly, The room was somewhat more basic than I had expected bur was clean and reasonably comfortable for one night. Breakfast was fine.
My main complaint has to be the noise. I had a room on the first floor which over looked the car park. The main road the hotel sits on is very busy with a large number of HGVs which wakened my around 4 am. If the HGVs don't waken you airplanes will the hotel appears to be on the flight path for Manchester airport. There were several of us staying and when we met in the morning discovered that we had all been up early and awake from 4am due to the noise.
