“excellent Pub & Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We went for the Carvery meal as a treat for the Children in Early Jan. The food was excellent, with lots of choice. The staff, from the waiter to the chef were very freindly and accomodating. The Pub underwent a transformation a year or so ago and is very nice inside. There are plenty of great Robinsons Ale's to choose from and a good wine list! Highly recommend a visit, we are going back again very soon!

“Goldilocks finds her Porridge!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

A very well designed Pub/Restaurant.
Interior warm & inviting, very deceptive from the outside.
First class service from the staff and with the luxury of a progress chaser come duty manager.
Once again the Robinson brand "Unicorn" Best Bitter was served in top condition as expected from any of their outlets.
Good choice of Meats from the Carvery at a very reasonable cost.
Loyalty card in operation for frequent visitors, plus £10 voucher online for survey completion.
Not an eceptionally large venue but well worth a visit for a cosy meal or drink.

“Superior Carvery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Four of us each had a carvery here on 16th December for lunch. The meals cost £8.75 each. What impresed us most was the quality of the meat. The beef was succulent and not over-cooked. The gammon and the turkey were both perfect as well. The yorkshire puddings were light and fluffy, and everything was piping hot. The vegetables were too al dente for some, but perfect for others. We were too stuffed for dessert.

The pub is attractive and well maintained. The staff were perfectly charming. I could do without the system of being formally seated by staff, and having drinks brought to the table- I'd rather just get them from the bar. In general, this is a pub that knows what it is trying to achieve- provide decent carvery food at a reasonable price in pleasant surroundings- and it achieves it. This isn't somewhere I'd go for a drink, because the pub has no real character, but I'd certainly go back for the food- I can't remember having a better carvery.
