“Tidy, reliable restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

This place is reliable, food is average to good and it's great value for money. Fish and chips were great and Granny Holt's Steak and Ale pie was also very good. Desserts were a bit heavy, so both times we have been, we have left feeling rather stuffed, but tables are well-spaced, it's clean, staff are friendly and efficient and it's good value for money with specials bundling 2 or 3 courses with a drink in the £12-16 range.

“If you're thinking of going out for a meal near here, book this one now...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Excellent food, good service, and comfortable restaurant.

Newly refurbished carvery room, and cheerful staff.

Excellent value for money.

If we're in the area again, we'll try this place first...

“Poor quality food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012 via mobile

This is a very nice pub, serving the brewery's own beer, which isn't too bad. The food, on the other hand, was of very poor quality. The mashed 'potato' was of powdered origin and the chips and vegetables were straight from the freezer. It wasn't expensive, but you get what you pay for. Actually chipping and mashing some potatoes would have made the world of difference to the overall stanfard of the food. I won't eat there again, but it's not a bad place to drink.

“Consistantly good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We go to the Woodthorpe quite regularly and whether you go for a bar snack or a sit down restaurant meal the food is always well cooked and presented by friendly staff that work well together as a team, the building makes a great backdrop for a relaxing visit and when the sun is out the out door seating area is great. Well worth a visit but best to book the restaurant at busy times such as weekends and evenings but plenty of tables in the bar if the restaurant is full.

“Nice pub for a drink”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Had lunch here and the service and food was very poor.
Myself and my friends had the light lunch special . soup and a sandwich for £6.75.
The food was edible but not good enough to eat here again.
The service exceptionally slow. We were the first food order of the day and waited around half an hour, so wouldn't like to see this place busy.
Never realised that it took soup so long to warm up in the microwave, LOL
