We have just moved to Uppermill and decided to try out our new local restaurants/bars. Dinnerstone was first on our list.
Booked online. Rang up to check. No booking (even though I received a booking confirmation via email). When we arrived, was seated on the first floor. First impression..BRIGHT LIGHTS>>>the kind of light at the end of the night in a nightclub. No mood lighting. Candles could hardly be noticed due to blaring halogen spotlights glaring down on us. Never mind we thought. Has good reviews. Food will be better...
1st course - Garlic Bread with Lancashire Cheese and Chillis. Nice...but not great
2nd course. King prawn Linguine...small portion. Not much flavour. Was okay.
Problem being I had a knife and fork to eat the linguine. The guy who took our order was abrupt, unsmiley, frankly made me feel like he couldnt be bothered. Asked for a spoon for my linguine...unsmiley guy brought it. No apology, no smile, no personality. This was a friday night and the place was buzzing..but not busy.
First and last visit to the Dinnerstone. Wasnt a nice atmosphere...wasnt good service and food was mediocre. Such a shame as it was our first restaurant in our new area. Was going to make it our local. Went to Muse and Java instead over the weekend. Lovely atmosphere and staff falling over themselves to be nice and give good service. Give it a miss guys.

I am sorry you didn't like Dinnerstone.
I cannot imagine when you visited as your observations don't seem to reflect Dinnerstone in any way? If you could let me know when you visited I'll be able to investigate this further for you.
I entirely agree with your comments on Java and Muse, there are both great places as are their staff.
