Owner description: We are a family run fruit farm nestled between the Malvern Hills and the River Severn just outside the picturesque town of Upton-upon-Severn. Mr Clive started the fruit growing business in 1917, his son Felix introduced PYO after returning from WW2 and the current owner Charlie took the reins in the 1990s. Since Charlie took over the farm has planted different fruit, extended the farm shop, introudced a juicing plant as well as turning an old pig pen into a children's nursery (run by his wife Jane). We have a farm shop, butchery, café, children's play area, feed the animals, PYO (June-Nov) as well as markets at various points in the year

“Super morning out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

Arrived early. Nice and quiet. Strawberry picking. Lots to see. Picked warm, freshly laid eggs from a coop. Fed chickens and pigs. Great family day out. Only tiny gripe...fab cafe but it took an age for one slice of cake to be delivered to our table. Had to ask for it after 10 mins. Finally arrived but no apology. If it was busy I think you may have to wait quite a long time for your order!!

“Lunch and Strawberry Picking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

My daughter and I decided to pick my granddaughter (and my daughter's niece) up from nursery, which is just up the road from Clive's Fruit Farm and thought it would be fun to pop there for lunch before taking my granddaughter on her first strawberry picking expedition.

After some lovely sandwiches and cake, which were fairly reasonably priced, we crossed the road to pick some strawberries. Having suffered with a bad back it was great that the strawberries were on benches at waist height so no bending down was involved! The strawberries themselves were delicious, and I am afraid to say my granddaughter did try one or two! She also had fun running up and down the rows of strawberries.

All in all we had a lovely summer afternoon in the English countryside.

“Tired of supermarkets?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

I am writing a book about supermarkets and have visited many over the years in various parts of the world. But that does not mean that I think that is where good food value lies.
Clive's (heavily branded) Fruit Farm is excellent for foodie or family destination.
Now, what happens when you take the kids to a supermarket? "Pester Power" is what marketers in Australia call it. As you forage for the fish fingers, the kids are bored and troublesome.
At Clive's, the kids are fascinated with the poultry and pigs: there also is the cafe. One parent to keep one's little darlings from pestering the chooks (chickens for all of you not lucky enough to be Australian!) whilst the other does the shop.
We have been there on weekdays and weekends and the numbers vary. But the staff are efficient and helpful in our experience. When it rains, there is a lot of mud but, hey! it is a working farm.
Must be a few buts around in the hot weather too, but I don't eat insects so they don't interest me much.
Anyhow, hot weather in the UK is a rarity so most of the crawlies seek warm cover for much of the year.
And if you want to shop without mud in wet weather, go to Morrisons.....
The meat and other produce is excellent and mostly local. What is brought in is of good quality as well. There are some preserves and very good local cheeses.
Snoop around and you will find some delights that you thought had vanished from retail trade.
It depends on your philosophy as a parent, but by going to Clive's you can with repeated visits (if you are lucky enough to live near Upon) instruct your children from where their food comes.
Whatever your dietary habits, it is worthwhile everyone knowing that.

“Great for the kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014 via mobile

I love it here. The kids think it's a day out whilst all they are doing is shopping. They love collecting our eggs. Looking forward to strawberry picking tomorrow. Great for showing kids food doesn't grow in supermarkets. Also, the juices are fantastic, taste exactly as described and are natural.

“A lovely find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

We stumbled upon Clive's Fruit Farm by accident, although we had seen a leaflet. Lovely little cafe and farm shop and the idea of picking your own eggs a great idea!

Worth a visit!
