“Good hotel, enjoyed my stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2011

Great location and high star hotel for the area. We stayed in the county suites and also had friends and family staying in seven or so rooms. Top staff, good facilities and accommodated our small dog. Enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna too.

Thank you for your review and for posting a couple of photos too!

I am very pleased you enjoyed your visit and that you had friends and family staying here too. We host a lot of family get-togethers as you can see from other reviews and I guess that by providing a good quality of service and hospitality we'll encourage more.

We hope to see you again in 2012.

Best wishes

My partner and I stayed at Menzies Stourport Manor hotel for 4 nights and we would highly recommend it. Our room was beautiful, very Modern, comfortable and very spacious, the bed was huge. The bathroom was large and was stocked daily with fresh towels and soap, shampoo and shower gel. There was a towel warmer too which was a nice addition to a beautiful bathroom. Also it was absolutely spotless. There was even chocolate chip cookies hot chocolate and bottled water along with the 'normal' Tea and coffee beside the kettle for our consumption. Nice touch we thought :) The staff were excellent, well informed, very courteous obliging and welcoming at the front desk on arrival and throughout our stay.We had free wifi throughout the hotel. The Room service menu was very good and reasonably priced and is available 24hours, which we availed of in the early hours on one occasion and was no trouble at all to the staff. We had breakfast every morning in the Restaurant and enjoyed a delicious full English with Fresh coffee served with a smile. There is also a selection of cereal's, Croissants, bread rolls tea and Fruit juices available, the selection for a cold breakfast was very good, everyone was catered for. We spent a couple of evenings in the Bar and found The Bar staff brilliant, they joined in with the craic we were having but were'nt imposing at all. Francis whipped up a couple of small ones for us to taste, great idea at the time but ouch the next morning!! The spa was very nice, Both my partner and i booked in for massage's and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The grounds of the hotel were stunning and very well kept, it is situated in a beautiful location and is very picturesque. All in all i would highly recommend you to book this hotel for any type of trip. We could not fault anything at The Stourport Manor.

Room Tip: Room 66 is divine : )

We have just spent our 29th Annual Family Reunion at Stourport Manor. Every year, up to 70 of us convene somewhere between North and South and this year we chose Stourport as it was both central and very good value for money. Having read mixed reviews on Tripdvisor we were a little apprehensive beforehand but we need not have been; almost every aspect was superb! The staff were a delight; friendly, discreet, courteous and obliging. The rooms were mostly very good indeed and as for the food, our considered opinion was that it had been about the best Family Weekend food we have ever encountered in 29 years. The only slight grumble from a few was the lumpy mattresses in some rooms but we believe the hotel is replacing these.
We were so thrilled with our weekend that we have already made a reservation for our 30th reunion next year.

Wow! Not only have you written us a glowing review, you're coming back for more - thank you!

It's the best review we can expect and I was delighted that you had such a great time here. As I have said in previous repsonses to reviews, it is the staff who really give our business its identity and they can be confident that they're providing the right standards of service, delivered with genuine hospitality.

Hopefully we'll be able to sort out any grumbles about mattresses before you return, especially since we've now sorted a new specification of beds for the hotel!

See you in 2012!

This is a pleasant hotel set in some picturesque surroundings. Parts of the hotel feel dated (e.g. the showers - in fact all of the bathroom, the fan was not working in ours). However, the rooms have been done up in the last 3 years or so, with a comfortable bed and pleasant decor. The staff were friend;y and very attentive. I'd certainly stay again.

Thanks for posting a review and I was pleased that you not only enjoyed your stay but also will be returning. That's always the best response we can hope for!

The refurbishment of 2009 was comprehensive, bringing huge improvements to many aspects of the hotel. There is no doubt that improvements to the bedrooms have been very well received, so it is my job to ensure that we maintain these high standards. The bathrooms benefited from minor overhauls, although some were completely refurbished too. It has all helped us to achieve a good standard throughout the hotel, which included refurbishment of our public areas, lounges, meeting rooms and restaurant too.

Hope to see you again soon,

Stayed 2 nights with family at this hotel. Previously had stayed at the Mickleover Menzies but preferred this hotel. Welcomed at reception by Charlotte who allowed me to look at two rooms before I was totally happy with the room chosen (the rejected room had been slightly darker due to the partial outside wall). The room was clean and the bed looked lovely with the cushions and decorative runner. The bathroom was equipped with nice toiletries and the towels were white and fluffy. I would certainly give the room 4*.

Some of the public areas like the corridors and lounge looked a bit tired and more 3*. The colouring was very drab in the lounge - olive/Army greens. The Waves Health and Leisure Club was clean and everything worked. Loved the sauna and steam room, perhaps the whirlpool could have been a bit warmer. No money was required for the lockers. The Waves cafe was nice too for hot drinks and meeting family.

As part of our package we had evening meals each night. Although we booked a table for 6 for the first evening days in advance and checked again with reception on arrival, when we did arrive at the restaurant there was no booking for us. Luckily as the restaurant was quiet this was quickly rectified and we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was nicely decorated but they didn't have circular tables for 6 people only oblong. The breakfast selection was OK nothing really outstanding. A lot of the buffet hot food was luke warm or even cold, as some of my party were too polite to complain about it, they just ate less the next morning.

All the staff we met were friendly and helpful, when one of our group had a problem with a non flushing toilet in their room, they were given a free upgrade, which was a lovely room with a sofa and 2 chairs, plus an iron and ironing borad and larger bathroom.

The free parking is a bonus and the hotel's location is useful for walks into Stourport on Severn along the canal and into Kidderminster (some of us got the bus back to Stourport). Bus timetables were available from reception. Blossoms cafe in Stourport was a nice place for sandwiches and hot drinks.

We liked the idea of putting the party people in the function room again the following day for their breakfast so making the main restaurant less crowded. Apart from the crowd by the bar in the early evening the party people didn't affect our stay.

Overall a very good weekend and a hotel I would recommend, but please try and keep the breakfast food hotter next time and spruce up the lounge furniture.

Thank you for posting a review and I am glad you had a good family weekend away. Our business comes alive through the people who work in it and I was delighted that, even when things weren't 100% right, they were addressed and sorted for you efficiently and with a smile. It matters hugely in our unpredictable business.

I can't be completely sure about why the breakfast buffet items weren't piping hot and we have had internal discussions about this. All the equipment is functioning correctly, so I can only presume that too much was put out too early rather than our better practice of replenishing the buffet items regularly with fresh.

The decor and colour schemes are dictated by the hotel designers and this was chosen in the refurbishment of 2009. Whilst it is unlikely that we'll make wholesale changes anytime soon, I will look at some of the small touches, which could bring a more homely feel to the lounges.

I do hope that you'll come back to Stourport Manor again - you'll be very welcome!

Best wishes

Stayed for a night for business which included an evening meal - the dinner was not impressive and really was not up to 4* standard. The bedroom decor was to a good standard although there was an unpleasant old (blood?) stain on the bedsheet and nasty stains on the underside of the runner. I woke in the night to a droning sound which sounded like a diesel power generator outside - eventually I found it to be caused by the ventilatuion fan in the bathroom which I could not switch off as it seemed to be a ducted system with a remote fan unit. The strange thing was that it sounded the loudest when my head was on the pillow! Overall a decidedly average experience....

Thank you for your review but "average" isn't something we want to be associated with. However, we have to take the rough with the smooth and accept that we seemingly didn't give a good impression when you visited.

I have got to the bottom of the droning sound, which disturbed your night's sleep. You're right that we have a centrally ducted system but I have adjusted the timings, which were incorrect. So now it is on at more appropriate times.

With regard to your bed linen, I have noted this with my Head Housekeeper and in turn this will be addressed with the housekeepers to ensure that we double-check linen as it is being put in place.

Of course, your meal is a subjective matter but we aim to provide good ingredients, properly cooked from the raw materials and presented in a contemporary fashion. Our dishes are quite traditional, however.

I do hope that you'll continue to visit Stourport Manor so that you can see improvements taking place. That is our aim - I think the Japanese call it - KaiZen.

Best wishes

We booked a two night short break as a last minute half term treat and wished that we could have stayed longer. We were given a better room than expected with a double and two single beds with plenty of room to spread out. We were near the reception entrance but this did not cause any extra noise. The room was very clean and the staff cheerful and friendly, especially the receptionist.

The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the bacon and sausages were good quality and the mini croissants were very moreish. There was a good selection of hot and cold food and even though the hotel was busy on our first morning, there were no long queues like other hotels we have visited. We wish we had taken up the DBB offer but we enjoyed fish and chips in the bar and this was beautifully cooked.

The large pool had a good childrens section and there were floats and goggles for everyone to use. It never got too crowded or noisy.

There were many lounge areas with really comfortable chairs and sofas.

The hotel is in a quiet situation and surrounded by lovely countryside. We spent the whole day in Stourport, the children loved the play areas and old fashioned fun-fair rides. We loved the canal basins, house-boats and the beautiful riverside paths. The locals were very friendly too!

Everything exceeded our expectations and we could not fault a thing. A lovely holiday.

Thank you for your review and I was very pleased to read such positive comments, particularly since the hotel was very busy during your visit. I think you've managed to get across that we want everyone to enjoy their experience here and the team can well adjust to all different types of guest requirements. I'm planning that this will be our long-term success.

I hope that you will come back again for a short break as there is so much more for you to explore locally, such as the Severn Valley Railway, the West Midlands Safari Park, rural Herefordshire, the city of Worcester and The Malverns - to name but a few!

Best wishes
