Our son and our new daughter in law were married at The Old Rectory on Saturday. I can honestly say that it was one of the best weddings ever. The Old Rectory did us proud. The setting is wonderful, and the hotel itself has a lot of old world charm, brought to life by the good taste of the owners. The rooms were warm, charming, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was all you could ask for. The staff were friendly and attentive. As for the wedding itself, the owners Pam and Mike have a lot of experience which clearly showed, in the beauty of the decor and the smooth organisation of the day. Whatever your reason for staying there, you will receive a warm welcome at The Old Rectory.

Room Tip: As far as I could see, all the rooms were good, with views over the grounds. Each room has a differe...

Surprised at the previous review titled "Second to None". Have stayed at this charming country house hotel for 5 years in a regular basis on business trips.
Classic English Country Rose and excellent value for money. This is not a five star residence-but a four star family run business.
The key element of success is the friendliness and efficiency of proprietors and staff. Where else are you going to get your breakfast specially made at 5.15 in the morning!!!
The food is good English country cooking, using local produce in season.
The grounds are magnificent with beautifully manicured lawns and a delight to sit in after a hard day at work.
Accommodation is extremely comfortable, with the star room being the attic!
This hotel makes one feel home from home.

Great garden, free wifi and good breakfast. It is the kind of place that local people think is posh but is really just fussy and old fashioned. If you like carpet in your bathroom, dusty ornaments, artificial flowers and floral print you will be in your element.
They seemed to be very understaffed but when the staff did appear they were friendly. If you like efficiently run business hotels with leisure facilities look elsewhere. For a provincial wedding on a budget it is probably 'second to none'!

We had our civil partnership on the 23rd June and cannot praise the hotel enough. All the staff were friendly and helpful especially the owners Pam and Mike and the manager Jacky.

Our registrar was an hour and a half late but Pam and her team weren't phased and swapped things around to minimise the disruption.

I'm sure that if this was a chain hotel that this wouldnt of been done so effortlessly.

All the bedrooms and function rooms are beautiful.....and all our guests commented on what a lovely venue it was.

The food was ample (which you sometimes don't get at some venues) and the dessert the lemon merengue semi freddo cake was the best dessert I have ever tasted.

In conclusion, if you would like to have your wedding at a place that treats you as an individual and gives you value for money....do not hesitate to choose the old rectory. We will be back for dinner soon.

We have just held my sister and brother-in-laws Ruby Wedding Lunch at this wonderful hotel. The food was excellent, the service second to none and the venue outstanding. They could not have done more to make a very special day extra special.

My Sister And I stayed at this hotel for two nights ,it was my treat to my Sister for her 60th birthday .
We had a very warm welcome ,the first evening we had dinner in the beautiful conservatory overlooking stunning gardens, our meal was well presented it tasted excellent .Our room was called The Chapel room 4 ,the bathroom was at the end of a small corridor ,it was to our advantage as I was able to shower etc early leaving my sister to rest .I hope to return in the future ,I will ask for this room again It was very large with two double beds ,it overlooked the gardens .we had breakfast both morning i found this great value as fresh fruit, cereal and a cooked breakfast was on offer it was tasty and fresh.Hosts Mike and Pat were very attentive I got the feel it was a hotel but also a family home .We both enjoyed our stay very much .
