“Expensive for what you get”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

No real welcome on arrival and ignored at the bar for a long time while bartender went off to get a bag of ice. Cheapest item on the menu is £10 for lasagne. Soup is over £6 and specials are very expensive. Big fancy plates and nice table clothes but food only average. One friends choice of calamari was particularly nasty. Chocolate "soufflé" dessert was smaller than the ice cream scoop on top and was probably microwaved judging by the time between ordering and arrival. Bar bill was not itemised just a total of over £30 for mainly soft drinks. Waitress was pleasant but her assistant kept dropping things. Would be better if it went back to being a good value trattoria which apparently it used to be.

“Warm welcome on a snowy evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Warm & friendly welcome on a cold evening. Service attentive but not intrusive. We both chose filet steak and it was one of the most delicious we had ever had - good chips too! No room for puddings, we both had coffee and will return soon!

“Worth a trip here.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

If you are looking for an Italian restaurant that does more than just pasta and pizza then this would be a good place to try. The food was good but portion size did vary a bit. We visited on a Friday night just before Christmas and it was very busy so the service was a little slow but did not spoil the evening. Some of our party have already revisited.

“Authentic Italian, because it is Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

I just love this place, the food is always brilliant, the menu is extensive, I always think I know what to have before I go there, then I see the specials board.. and my plan falls to pieces.

The Wine List is superb.. and the staff/team are always so polite and friendly.

“Late Saturday 15th Sept”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We arrived quite late having been help up at Newbury Agricultural Show, our first question - are we too late to eat? the reply "certainly not, lets find you a table" what followed was a wonderful meal, huge portions, attentive staff amazing atmosphere, all you need to relaxafter a very busy day. I have visited ths restuarant over the last thirty years and it is always excellent.
Please keep up the good work, the owners and their staff deserve all the praise they can get!!!
