“Always worth stopping if in Hindon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We always try to time return trips from London area (Twickenham ) to provide time to stop here for some great food and a beverage. The atmosphere and character has been more ore less the same for longer than perhaps I care to remember. Good choice of cask beer, wine and food to suit all and sensibly priced. Not found a reason not to keep on the list of favourite pubs.

Our walking group stayed here in late August for a couple of nights while walking the Wessex Ridgeway. Good rooms, service and food kept us happy. Nice to find a place with modestly priced but well presented food, with lunch prices not raised for dinner. Good breakfast too!
Lovely countryside around here means this is a good find.

Having decided to visit the Dorset Steam Fair we thought to make a weekend of our trip and after searching around the area we came across the Lamb. Booked 2 rooms (room 17) & the MacDonald (4 poster room) on bed and breakfast. On arrival we were greeted & taken to our rooms to find two comfortable well sized rooms with good size bathrooms and one with a great free standing bath, not to mention the excellent toiletries, I can recommend the soap and shampoo to try!
We headed straight down to have dinner to be advised that they had reserved a table ready which was a nice surprise. Plenty of options for dinner, we can recommend their specialty burger, grilled plaice with the broad beans & tomatoes, sticky toffee pudding, cheese board just to mention a few (great to have local produce). We also had the special (Pigeon) but when it arrived it was overcooked but chef had already advised the waitress to inform us that we were not going to be charged for this so we could not fault them. The waitress was friendly and attentive throughout. Excellent choice and quality of wines matched our dinner and of course the whiskeys for my husband rounded off our event.
Following morning we had an excellent cooked breakfast served pipping hot with a good selection/quality of items.
We certainly will be back to visit again just need an excuse to visit this area and the beautiful quaint village location.

We stayed here in the 1st night of our trip to the West Country & it was out honeymoon. The staff are very friendly & our room was amazing & food absolutely fabulous. Our waitress Beccy was great & couldn't do enough. That goes for all the staff at The Lamb Inn nothing was too much trouble for any if them. Most definitely will be back again

I phoned in advance to book lunch for three and explained that I would be very unhappy with any hint of failure in service and cleanliness - as I had seen from Tripadvisor reports.

I can report that the service was exceptional - attentive but not formulaic -cheerful but not intrusive - explanatory but not patronising - consistent and refreshing.

the menu has some interesting variations to both "pub" food and what is sometimes -and quite wrongly named "gastro" fare .

The interior(we ate outside)is somewhat gloomy and needs a real makeover - not to silly modern excess, but just more cheerful to match the efforts of the staff.

A recent management review has taken place - there is a need to continue the good work and results already achieved.

You will not be disappointed.

Having had lots of breakfast meetings, I was pleasantly surprised at this one; a warm welcome and tea/toast before the boss arrived,

The full English was superb; exceptional quality of bacon/sausage and very well presented. In fact I would go as far to say it was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had!

The hotel was quaint and looked comfortable. If the first impression I got is anything to go by I am sure a great stay is awaiting you at The Lamb.

I stayed at the Lamb on a business trip, what a lovely place. The bedroom was well equipt and the bed was very comfortable. I liked the local artisan soaps in the well finished bathroom, a thoughtful touch. The evening dinner menu was full of local fare, and tasty. The TV was 36 inch so no sqinting required. All in all a good place to stop. For a week end away you are not far from Salisbury, and Street. Great place for rambling as well I expect. Service was excelent, and the beer matched, all in all a great stay.

Room Tip: Room 8 was good
