let's get the one negative out of the way, I have a feeling the barman was new as when we ordered a gin and tonic, he gave us a selection of gins (3 I think) and then proceeded to add two bottles of 125ml tonic into it. When we questioned it he said that one bottle didn't fill the glass.
Anyway, great welcome and a great feel about the place. We have tried to eat here before but they were fully booked. Understandable really! it was nice to be told the specials by the waitress rather than read from a board plonked in front of you. Leek & Potato Soup with horseradish cream could have been eaten by the bucket with a ladle.
Most of us then went for the steaks, cooked to perfection (a rarity) and the chips were just the best, it's hard to get excited about a chip but these were fabulous. A great selection of vegetables too. All through this a number of waitresses would walk by just having a glance or asking if everything was ok without feeling like you were being pestered.
One last point, pudding was great but please add some more to the selection!
We'll be back, thankfully not to far from home!
