5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

The wheatsheaf is a lovely, good food, good drinks and above all excellent service the barmaid (sarah) was the best i have seen yet she was very helpfull in helping me make my drink choice and food, we only stopped because we were lost and she told us were to go. If i might say she is a brilliant barmaid, (dont let her go anywhere) we will definitly be coming back.

“A No-Nonsense Sunday Roast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

I visited the Wheatsheaf on Sunday 28.04.13 together with my wife and teenage son following a recommendation from a friend of mine. We specifically went to take advantage of the Sunday Roast offer for £10, which includes a free dessert. Judging by the other tables filled with hungry diners, we weren’t the only ones to recognise a good deal when we see one.

There was a choice of two meats; either beef or pork. Drinks bought and meals ordered, my initial concern was that we could be in for a bit of a wait given the pub’s obvious popularity. Nothing of the sort, as we were soon presented with generous helpings of our chosen meats. Both the beef and pork were very tender. They came accompanied by three good sized roast potatoes unmistakably of the homemade variety. A separate serving dish completed the feast with mashed swede, broccoli, ratatouille and carrots to choose from.

You won’t find any vegetable purees smeared across a slate at the Wheatsheaf – this is a no-nonsense home cooked Sunday Roast. Simple, honest food, well cooked.

There’s a good selection of desserts with homemade spotted dick catching my eye, but in the end I was too tempted by the mixed fruit crumble, which polished proceedings off very nicely. We left feeling very contented.

“A good pub for locals and visitors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This pub is well frequented by locals from the surrounding villages which speaks for the quality and value of its food and drinks offerings. This is not a modern gastro pub which is part of its success. The food is well presented, is of good quality and variety with sensible prices. The menu is varied with both basic and more interesting meals available. Special menu items and food events are also offered, the Monday evening Fish and Chips at £5.00 till 7.00pm is well worth trying. A good variety of local beers is always available with guest beers changing frequently. Being family owned and run means the welcome and service is friendly. The Cotswolds get many overseas visitors, they should visit the Wheatsheaf to find out what a real English local pub should be.

“Not gastro, just a decent good value british village pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This pub is a good example of a standard village pub, quite small but light and airy . Excellent cask beers and decent cider and reasonably priced vin ordinaire. Good selection of food, with specials as well. In my experience this is always the best option to go for at any pub - fresher, seasonal and less likely to be reheated from frozen. Occasional good value and quality theme nights - curry night and Burns Night in particular. Crudwell are lucky to have this alternative to the rather pricey gastro-pub up the road.

“A great basic pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

Many of the pubs around this area are gastropubs and are generally disappointing. This one is light and clean and does good basic food at sensible prices as well as some pricier dishes. The beer is very good and the service extremely friendly. Hope it isn't modernised or made more fancy!
