We stayed at Hazeland Mill at the end of March to celebrate two family birthdays. As the stay was part of the birthday treat we were obviously hoping that the weekend lived up to our expectations. We were not disappointed. Hazeland Mill was once a water mill which has been very tastefully renovated. It offers three double-bedrooms all of which are furnished to a very high standard and all of which have views across spectacular countryside. Jenny and Peter own the property and they, along with their adorable spaniels, make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. We were extremely lucky with the weather and were welcomed with fresh tea/coffee and pastries on the terrace, following which we explored the extensive grounds. Accommodation is offered on a B & B basis with the option of an evening meal. We chose the option of the evening meal and we were not disappointed. Jenny is an excellent cook and after having canapes in the lounge area we headed to the spacious dining room to enjoy an excellent three-course meal. The evening was made complete when Jenny and Peter joined us in the lounge for after dinner drinks. They are excellent hosts who made us all feel very welcome and they were happy to tell us about the history of the mill, the shoots they held and tips about the local area. We all slept well and were greeted the next morning by a hearty breakfast in the conservatory adjoining the new kitchen. All the food is fresh and locally sourced and you can certainly taste the difference. So if you're looking for 5* accommodation in Wiltshire but with a real personal touch look no further.
