“Service, location, setting and food 5*, room only 3* I'm afraid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

Mr W and I stayed here on a last minute Dinner B&B deal last week. The grounds are beautiful with an outdoor heated pool with towels available from reception and all the staff we met were polite and friendly.

Dinner (allocation of £35 pp to spend on the a la carte menu included in the deal) was really good, tasty, well presented with good sized portions. When we arrived some guests were having afternoon tea which looked splendid also! Breakfast was cooked to order and was fine, especially like the toast and freshly squeezed juices! Be aware though that there were still young children in the restaurant gone 9pm and although well behaved and didn't bother us, some might prefer a more child free environment.

Now the not so goods: We'd booked a Cosy room which was located in the coach house. The room was on the small size, not a problem though and the large bed was comfy with good linens. The tea tray had a good selection of teas and was replenished at turn down later that evening. There were only two tiny windows but the lighting in the room was really dim so couldn't even see to put make up on in the bedroom mirror and the bathroom mirror was still running with steam 1.5 hours after two quick morning showers despite leaving the door open. Also we heard every movement from the people upstairs who seemed to be running a constant marathon around their room until gone midnight and then again from 6am. This is not the hotel's fault but be aware that sound does carry in these coach house rooms if you're a light sleeper. Bathroom grouting could have been cleaner, the toilet seat was cracked and moved to the side when you sat on it.

Despite the above shortfalls we had a lovely stay and would undoubtedly return , just not to the Coach house rooms!

What a fantastic stay, breakfast was just amazing, perhaps one of the best I have ever had, comfy beds and great attentive staff. Off the beaten track but well worth the stay if you want somewhere close to bath but nice and quiet

We've stayed on a number of occassions and always look forward to our visits, if anything this time was even better than ever. Balmy summers day, beautiful cream tea followed by a dip in the pool surrounded by wonderful English country garden planting... And in the evening a gorgeous dinner, we were celebrating so good to note that the "house" champagne was very well priced and delicious...Hope it won't be too long before our next visit, Well done to all at Beechfield House.

Room Tip: Choose a "cosy room" inthe old coach house, every bit as nice as the more expensive option...

Afternoon tea in a lovely secluded courtyard terrace with a fountain gently tinkling in the sunshine. What a great experience. The service was great, efficient friendly and unobtrusive, the atmosphere relaxed and unhurried and the food a real treat....they even have a sample book so you can smell the tea that you select.
I have driven past on the main road hundreds of times and never thought I would find such a peaceful location so close to the road.
Well done Beechfield team - I'm coming back for more and spreading the word!

This was a mid-week mini break and lived up to expectations. The cosy room was a very good size with bucket chairs and coffee table as well as good-sized twin beds. Everything was spotlessly clean, a beautiful bathroom and an inviting swimming pool outside. Very good food and delicious evening meals. The best cream tea ever, which was just freshly made and served on the terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff. We shall definitely come back again.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room when booking if you cannot manage the stairs.

We booked Beechfield for 24 hour exclusive use for our daughter's wedding reception and overnight accommodation for the wedding guests. Every aspect of the day and night was perfect, including the glorious weather! Jean-Luc and his team did a superb job. The wedding breakfast was very well cooked and presented, and was served unobtrusively with the excellent wines. The beautiful grounds were ideal for the photographs, serving the canapes, and as a backdrop for the string quartet. The outdoor pool was just right before and after breakfast for a morning swim. The guest rooms were spacious and well-appointed. We would thoroughly recommend it.

I booked this hotel for just one night to stay with my two sisters and we were keen to stay in one room. There was some confusion about the global booking engine offering a triple room at this hotel when there wasn't one. The hotel called me in Australia to explain the issue and were incredibly gracious, accommodating and honoured the advertised rate and put us into Alder Room which we loved.

I really did appreciate their flexibility and was already feeling positive towards them before we arrived. And then when we turned up, the hotel itself really did live up to the pictures, the staff were really friendly and warm and the overall experience was first class.

I have told everybody about the hotel since. I have stayed in many hotels at twice the price that are not nearly as tastefully decorated nor as well serviced as the Beechfield House Hotel.

Stay here, eat at the restaurant and chill out - it is a breath of fresh air.

Room Tip: We stayed in Alder which is stunning, but may be a little warm for some people.
