Visit on Tuesday 13th August 2013.
This was our second visit to the Aagrah in Ilkley, the first was just after it opened and was ok but nothing special; sadly the food on this visit was awful.
They say they specialise in seafood, having a separate display and menu. My wife ordered the scallops off this menu as a starter, what arrived were small scallops served with coral on, overcooked, rubbery and tasteless. My own starter was chicken livers tikka, sounded different and it was; large lumps of overcooked, grainy and grey liver coated in a dark brown mix of dry spices.
My main was keema dhansak which is a personal favourite. Here it was grey, stewed mince with no evidence of lentils. It tasted like it had been spiced with cheap madras curry powder or an equivalent. My wife stuck with the seafood theme and ordered a monkfish dish off the special seafood menu, again overcooked and simply not good enough.
On our first visit the service was fine if a bit impersonal, on this visit though we waited 30mins for our starter to arrive and the same again for the mains; the staff were indifferent and unhelpful.
I can't think of any reason why we'd ever return given that there are several other good Indian and Asian restaurants in Ilkley, Bistro Saigon and Panache to name just two.
