“Ok but improvements could be made”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

Food is ok, rooms are small and the shower was in need of regrouting. Like the dog friendliness of the place. I didn't get any toast with my full English until I asked for it. Nice place overall but over priced to be honest

“Average Sunday roast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Bit disappointed after seeing current ranking in Hebden Bridge restaurants. It was an ok lunch but nothing to make me want to return.

“All That a Pub Should Be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

I was thinking as I ate breakfast, at The Hare and Hounds, that this is just the sort of place that would horrify Alex Polizzi, off the TV- she would have a terrible desire to paint it duck-egg blue; kick out the riff-raff; make it more minimalist and have awful chalk boards everywhere. But what do the likes of her know about proper English pubs? Nothing! This is a fantastic place!
The B & B was clean and comfortable; the food, good value and tasty and the welcome the warmest I have encountered in years.
Timothy Taylor Brewery describe their ales as "Championship Beers" and the cask ale on offer at The Hare and Hounds certainly lives up to this lofty billing. The four Taylor's ales available are in tip-top condition and there was also a good selection of wines and single-malt whiskies.
Pubs like this are jewels which are being lost all over the country; thankfully this is not the case in this beautiful corner of The West Riding.

“Lovely Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Visited here in January in search of a proper roast and found it! The pub is situated high up in the hills above Hebden Bridge; the journey alone was almost worth it for the stunning views. The pub itself is lovely - everything that a proper, traditional pub should be. The man behind the bar was very friendly and made us and our large dog very welcome. We both had the roast beef - very tasty and well cooked. The whole visit was very enjoyable and we will definitely visit again when in the area. Overall - a friendly, traditional pub with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and very good food.

“A real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

A fantastic B&B which was very accommodating for my wife and I and our 9 week baby. The rooms were well equipped and the location is ideal for exploring the beautiful surrounding area. The managers are friendly and fun who were more than happy to help with any request. We will definitely return next time we are in the area and the breakfast was 5 star.
