“Basic bed for the night.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I stayed here for two nights in March 2013. At first I was quite shocked that a hotel could only offer a standard double bed, particularly when the room was big enough for a king.No niceties in the bathroom, just a very small shower gel and shampoo, not even a facecloth!. The room was bereft of drawers that were functional apart from a very shallow desk drawer that could be locked(no safe). The non slip bath mat was a suspicious aged colour and on the floor next to the bin, the small fixed shower screen had a fringe of black mould and was so small the floor was inevitably soaked when the shower was used.
Dinner in the restaurant was mediocre and over priced, as were drinks.Breakfast was for those lovers of all things fried, only sliced bread on offer no pastries. There was limited cereal and tinned fruit.Staff were friendly when you could find them!
We left the hotel on our first morning at 9am, to attend my sisters funeral, returning at 2.30 pm to find that our room had not been serviced, therefore had to sit in the public lounge area for a cup of tea,not ideal when I just wanted some peace and quiet! When we eventually got access I had to chase reception for milk to make a drink in the room.We went out in the evening to family returning about 11pm, the bar was shut so 2 whiskies were charged at room service price making £19+ a bit over the top.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the upper floors so the smell of chlorine from the pool does not assault you on the...

Thank you for feedback.

I am extremely disappointed to hear that there were certain aspects in the hotel that did not meet your expectations. I am however confused as to your comments regarding the toiletries as each bedroom has a very nice display of these. It is our aim here at the Gomersal Park Hotel to fulfil our guest’s needs.

I would also like to say that I feel your comments regarding breakfast are very unfair and untrue, the only fried items are the fried bread and eggs as you would expect, there is a large range of cereals, croissants, fresh fruit, cheeses an much more on offer, something to meet everyone’s needs.

As always feedback is always appreciated, both good and bad.

Kind regards
Gavin Jack

WE had our night at Gomersal as a christmas pressy. We arrived around 4pm on the Saturday, we had been called on the Friday to ask if we wanted a table Saturday in the restauraunt and we are so glad we said yes. We used the facilities to the full. The pool is lovely and warm, although would be so much more of an atraction if refurbished but thats a preference not a critism. The massimo restauraunt was out of this world, fantastic food really cant say enough, service was brilliant, the two girls on front of house are centre to the success of the opperation there, they were so obviously busy but there efficiency, professionalism and organisational skills shone through, they so deserve a pat on the back !!!!!! room was comfortable and clean. lovely place would love to go again, well wporth money.

Room Tip: Book a table at the restaurant !!!!!!!!

We had a lovely relaxing break at this hotel, a birthday present for my husband. We stayed for two nights and received a friendy welcome with a welcome drink and breakfast included at a very good rate. I had contacted the hotel prior to our stay and asked for a high floor bedroom with bath (not just a shower) in a quiet location which they gave us. They told us there was a wedding on the Saturday but it did not detract from our pleasant stay. It is a lovely, impressive hotel in a quiet location, which will be lovely in summer. Very friendly staff who were very helpful. We had a nice, clean room with lovely large towels. Next time we visit we will book for a meal in on site Italian restaurant which had a good menu. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice, plenty of staff as very busy on the Sunday morning. The pool was quite small but had a nice whirl pool which was very hot & a sauna which we didn't use. We will definately visit again.

Room Tip: Ring to request a room in a certain area, i.e. away from the main function rooms.

I got this one night stay on a deals site for £39 as part of my mums 60th birthday present. The deal was one night stay for two with welcome drink and breakfast included. Pleasantly surprised as so cheap didn't know what to expect, lovely looking impressive hotel, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you, room was nice, I've stopped in better but also stopped in worse, for 39 pounds it was fantastic, booked a meal in on site Italian restaurant, beautiful food, breakfast also without fault plenty of choice, only grumble is we wish our stay had been for longer.

Another Groupon voucher night stay. First the good; pleasant helpful staff, fantastic on-site restaurant, friendly bar staff, good, plentiful breakfast, although we didn't get toast brought to the table, and considering its proximity to the M62 very quiet setting. The bad; definately felt that we were given the "voucher" room. It was small although the wardrobe was huge, eventually found the hospitality tray hidden in there. There was no blind or curtain in the bathroom which was overlooking the pool. OK it was obscured glass but shadows and shapes can be made out. There was dust on the base of the table lamps and the corner of the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Why in this day of flatscreen TVs do hotels insist on putting them on tables lower than the bed and to one side of the bed so the person on the far side cant see it? Put them on the wall please. And finally to the ugly; peeling wallpaper, green/beige bathroom suite with a very suspicious looking bulge in the ceiling above the bath, wonky curtain pole just holding onto the curtain and a broken toilet seat which was also splintering under the rim.
All said, it was satisfactory for a nights stay on a voucher deal, very disappointed if I had paid full whack. And what with the fire alarm going off for 30seconds at 01.30??

Thank you for feedback.

I am extremely disappointed to hear that there were certain aspects in the hotel that did not meet your expectations and have spoken to the departments in question to resolve this matter.

As always feedback is always appreciated, both good and bad, we pride ourselves here at Gomersal Park Hotel on our customer service and take all feedback very seriously. However I can only apologise for the inconvenience caused by the fire alarm as you can appreciate fire alarms in hotels to go off, they are there for our customer’s safety, luckily on this occasion it was a false alarm and was dealt with very efficiently by our staff to cause the least inconvenience to our guests as possible.

Kind regards

My husband and I stayed at Gomersal Park with friends five months ago and had a lovely weekend. We have just been back, again with friends and were amazed to see the difference since our last visit. The restaurant which was quiet six months ago, was full and lively, the menu was so much more comprehensive and interesting, the food, lunch, dinner and breakfast was exceptional and the service particularly admirable. Liz must be congratulated for running an excellent venue, her staff were happy and efficient and she is most professional and welcoming. The change to Italian style is a master-stroke!
We would also like to mention the Receptionist with long blonde hair, I'm sorry we did not take her name but she was most pleasant and helpful.
