Place is infested with bed bugs. Covered our legs and back with bites. Not only that but the staff are very very rude and unhelpful ... they would rather sit around doing nothing that serve us breakfast 5 min past the breakfast time.
We tried to make our own when we saw another sign that said we could use the kitchen facilities but were then told we were not allowed to.
The stairway can barely hold a man's weight and if anybody leant against the railings upstairs they would fall and seriously injure themselves...the building is beautiful but too old and dangerous and should be torn down or repaired.
If nothing else, avoid for the hygiene...bed bug bites hurt!

I staid there for 3 nights ! Traditional hotel situated in the main avenue. Showers and WC clean. My room was really typical but I really loved it ! Breakfast : choice between nicaraguan breakfast, pancakes or granola and yoghurt and fruit !

Stayed for three nights, didn't pre-book, basic hotel with OK showers. Right on the beach front. Good breakfast, you get what you pay for. Good place to use as a base for exploring more of the area. Really good ice-cream place next door that opens in the evening.

Hotel Estrella is a great little place to stay. It's a mix between hotel meets hostel. All rooms are private with any number of beds available in them, it's hostel dorm room priced and all rooms have a balcony that allow you views of the bay along with its gorgeous sunsets. The bathrooms are shared and at the bottom of a creaky old narrow stairwell. Breakfast is hotel styled and delicious served to you by the owner and her son. It's a family affair and the abuelos sit in their rocking chair in the main room. Don't expect 5 star service but it's definitely a great time!
