“Great Chocolate Bread & Wonderful People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

Eric and his staff are extremely friendly and have a great place to stop for baked goods. The smells alone will bring you through the door. The fantastic flavors will keep you coming back. Be sure to stop by as soon as you get to town, because you'll want to be back for more! The chocolate bread was fantastic!

“Not a restaurant!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

We stopped at Pan de vida twice, but they were closed. There are no hours posted on the door, so we assumed that it was like very other place in Central America that opened on the whims of the owner.

My kids loved the cookies, but at almost $1 a piece, I think they were over-priceded for Central America. We bought a loaf of banana bread and a French bread. The banana bread was delicious. The French bread was not. I was expecting something light and airy. Maybe it was the humidity in the air.

It's a nice little bakery, but there were not many snack options for travelers.

“Great Bakery for their banana bread”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

Great little bakery if you don't look at the prices you are paying. This bakery forgot to adjust it's pricing when the owner moved from the US to Nicaragua, so you are paying as much as 7 or 8 US dollars for a loaf of bread in a country where you can get a loaf for 1 or 2 dollars. Nice stop for a slice of bread to go with your coffee.

“Rare find in SJdS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2011

Excellent baked goods are always a great find. You must arrive early to get the best selection. The muffins are great with a cup of coffee for breakfast and the cookies for a light dessert in the evenings.

“Very average unfriendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

Bread is o.k. so is the rest but staff very unfriendly and rude it feels like you disturb them the owners should keep a closer eye on their business instead of trying to expand to other cities in Nicaragua.Staff should learn basic customer service in order to keep these customers to come back.
