“Beautiful setting and gracious hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2010

Alan and Carol went all-out to make us feel pampered (and extremely well-fed) during our stay at Latin Latitudes. Interesting conversations over dinner under the stars and waking up to the sound of the sea and howler monkeys were highlights of our visit. The B&B is a short walk to Playa Yankee, a huge stretch of white sand that we had all to ourselves. Highly recommended.

Truly a hidden gem. If you want remote, quiet, secluded beach (as in no one but you), and off the beaten path, Latin Latitudes B&B is for you. Allen and Carol have a beautiful little slice of paradise and are genuinely welcoming and accommodating.
You will truly feel like you have your own private hideaway for a very reasonable price.
The rooms are nicely decorated and as magnificent as the view overlooking the ocean.
You will be served wonderful breakfasts (other meals also if you'd like) made by Carol and you will be greeted by the friendliest (and most well fed) dog in San Juan del Sur.
I wish I could have stayed longer!

This gorgeous, out of the way, off the grid, bed and breakfast is in a beautiful location and hosted by a delightful couple who know the area and the country. Carol and Alan have built a comfy welcoming place to get away from it all, relax, swim, explore, birdwatch, enjoy pacific sunsets, star gaze, and eat gourmet food. Those of us who have stayed there consider it a gem and recommend it to our friends.

To put it simply, this is a superb place, an oasis of privacy and relaxation, of good company and great food, in a little corner of Nicaragua easily accessible to all the country has to offer yet decidedly off the beaten path. My wife and I have stayed here on several occasions, ranging from a few days to two weeks, and Alan and Carol are excellent, convivial hosts who possess that third sense of all great innkeepers of knowing the fine line between entertaining guests and intruding on their privacy.

We never tired of the view from the veranda down to the beach and ocean, or of the beach itself -- an easy walk away -- which we often had to ourselves. Nor did we weary of the good conversation and fine, leisurely meals crafted by Carol and her helper and housekeeper, Luisa. The birdlife in the adjacent trees and gardens was a constant wonder. Occasionally, howler monkeys traveled through the trees in search of food. And when we craved more, which wasn’t often, we headed 20 minutes north to San Juan del Sur, a tourist center with a range of hotels and restaurants and a picturesque horseshoe bay and beach.

My partner and I needed a get-away from Costa Rica and we found the ideal place to relax, re-charge, swim, walk on the beach, star-gaze, sleep soundly without the sound of civilization in the background.....and of course enjoy scrumptious home-made meals. We found all of this and more at Latin Latitudes.
Canadian born hosts Alan & Carol took ten or so years of exploring Mexico and Central America before they found their 'piece of paradise', and they've built a lovely B&B in order to share that with their guests.
The B&B is located four or five hundred meters off the coast road (toward the beach) approximately 12 km south of the town of San Juan del Sur (there is a good sign), but is well worth the little bit of extra effort to visit this pristine beach and lovely accommodation.
Carol's fabulous meals will be worth the visit even if you are too lazy to enjoy swimming, surfing, walking, hiking, body-surfing, etc.
Enjoy!
