I wanted to add a new location to my travel map and thought that a short break in Honesdale would suit quite nicely.

But the manager at Schrute Farms seemed more interested in dealing with wedding plans - and strangely enough, they weren't plans for his wedding. The potential bride and groom were given a tour of the place when I was there but they seemed oddly mismatched as the potential bride spent a fair amount of time berating the potential groom. The groom-to-be grovelled in a way that was distasteful, to be honest.

There were things I liked about the B&B. One of the appeals of Schrute Farms is the hand-tilled fields, and guests will have plenty of time to enjoy the view over the fields as breakfast is served on Farm Time: from 0445 until 0630. The rooms are decorated with what I think could be called outsider art: there was a framed sampler on the wall of my room that consisted of the words That's What She Said in black thread on a red background. Interesting, but a lttle scary.

Overall an average stay, but I'd not return until the bouncy castle is repaired.

Little effort is being made by the staff to stop the frequent number of visits by area teenagers to use the Farm as a local teen hangout for having sex. My wife said she will never return. I was appalled as well! A few other notes: Everytime my wife and I returned to the INN from a trip into town, we would be greeted by a strange Amish man running along side our car like a dog. Also, the distinct odor of manure was ever-present.
My wife had to go to a nearby pharmacy to purchase meds and creams to help recover from the corn cob scrapes to herself made during personal visits to the INN's private facilities.
I cannot recommend this retreat to anyone.

My wife and I enjoyed everything about our visit to Schrute Farms. Our only issue was waking up on the last morning to find our watches were in Jello on the nightstand. What's that all about?

Wow what a unique place and when I say unique I mean unique. The staff was helpful, although the owner was a bit harsh on the bell boy Mose. I stayed in the America room. The room bleed patriotism with its red white and blue flag theme. The beds were a little small but comfortable. I think they might have been home made. Going to the bathroom was a hassle because it was outside. Breakfast was excellent, it really catered to my Atkins Diet.
Overall a good stay.
