My boyfriend and I were looking for a little time away from the daily grind of L.A. and decided to try Schrute Farms.
The first day we arrived we were greeted by Mose, one of the proprietors, who helped us in with our bags.
After we were checked-in, it was already getting late and all there was time for was supper. There was no formal dining room, but instead a quaint and unique dinner consisting mainly of the farms primary produce, the beet. The main course was beetloaf (hard to explain, you'd have to try it to believe it), pickled beet slaw and steamed beets. For dessert was a nice surprise of a beet sorbet, which was a nice palette cleansing finale to the meal.
Once dinner was finished we were lead upstairs by acting concierge/proprietor Dwight Shrute. Out of the three themed rooms we chose "Night". The room definitely lived up to its name, having decor of all black, (which we were told was also a good color to intimidate one's opponents with) and glow-in-the-dark stars painted on the ceiling.
The dark room definitely proved for a good sleep, though we were awakened at dawn by Dwight and Mose for our tour of the farm to be late followed by an instruction in table making by Mose.
All in all, it was a delightful trip. The sparse and rustic surroundings were just the quiet that my boyfriend and I were looking for. Thanks Schrute's!
