“Loved it. ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Great history in the area, and loved the TV. The TV was directv which I loved. I was able to watch baseball playoffs in HD!!! The rooms were huge, clean, had a fridge and microwave. The site used to be a old steel mill so there was done cool pieces left in the area to remember the history. I plan on going back this summer and I'm staying at the same hotel.

This is a great place to stay to relax with the convenience of being minutes away from the Waterfront area of Pittsburgh! Clean facilities and friendly staff make for an enjoyable experience here. I was traveling with a few work friends to attend a two day conference downtown. The rooms were spacious and beautiful, not to mention huge bathrooms which is sometimes hard to find at hotels. I would reccomend this hotel to any business or leisure travelor.

Work brought me to the Pittsburgh area this past weekend, and the supporting group made my reservations for this Hampton Inn. After a 5-hour ride across the state and the city traffic, I was looking forward to a place to work, a good meal, and a much-needed quiet night. Hampton fit the bill for each requirement.
The Waterfront area is a quiet oasis for anyone looking for a business stop. Located at the end of a shopping and entertainment area, access is easy, parking is plentiful. and registration is a breeze. This was by far the largest suite I have ever seen. King-sized bed, a 10-foot desk (really), power outlets everywhere, fast WiFi, comfortable seating, well lit and nicely accessorized en suite, very large flat screen television, and details galore.
The manager on duty, Mr. Nicholas, was a fine example of customer focus. He patiently identified the various restaurant options within easy walking distance once I mentioned my time in the car. And to return after a good meal to the smell of freshly-baked cookies and five coffee options in their 24-hour access breakfast nook/work area was about as good as it gets.
The bed was comfortable, clean, and warm. Four pillows offered any combination of support, and that large television pulled out and turned on a wall-mount that was easy to use. Okay... the phone-based wake-up call service was daunting, but a quick call to the desk confirmed that I had pushed the correct buttons. Hot water was abundant as were the towels. It was nice to shave using a mirror not fogged because of the door to the shower and the exhaust fan kept the steam where it belonged. Breakfast offerings were as expected, and I selected eggs, potatoes, yogurt, and coffee. But cereal, fruit, bacon, waffles, muffins, breads, and pastries were available from 6 a.m. through 10 every morning. Check out consisted of returning my key (which by the way works like a fob instead of having to fumble with a card slot. It even worked inside its holder). Smiles and greetings by the inn employees was the norm. Room charges are about average, but using a corporate account shaves almost $20 off the cost.
I never had the chance to use the indoor pool or the exercise room. I did note the outdoor running trails that parallel the river, and I am hoping for good weather on my return trip.
I will be returning to Pittsburgh next month with four colleagues, and I quickly confirmed our reservations at the Hampton. Best is a significant superlative, but this place earns it.

Room Tip: My room was located near the entrance which is within 100 feet of the Waterfront four-lane road. Nev...

The critical stuff: clean, comfortable, decently priced Benefits: lots of dining options within walking/distance in a large shopping area. Movie theaters are across the street. Downtown Pittsburgh/colleges are a 10 minute drive away.

This hotel is directly across the street from the Loews AMC theatre. Close to a ton of restaurants, bars & things to do.
This hotel is new, however it's extremely clean. We opted for a larger king size room. The room was large and very nice inside.
The view, was of the river and bridge, which was lovely to wake up to.
TV in this room was Direct TV which was nice because the selection of channels was larger than average. That was appreciated.
Normally I prefer Marriotts but opted for the Hampton Inn due to price point only.
If you plan to stay over in the area, don't hesitate to opt for this hotel.

The hotel was great! The property very interesting. View of river; former steel mill remains educational. Loved visiting the Frick House. Need to put that info in your room binder. Local restaurants nearby. Overall, lovely experience.
