“We had a fantastic Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2009

The Hershey Lodge was a beautiful hotel. The service was wonderful. Any questions or help you needed, they were prompted and polite. The workers at the lodge were always friendly and approachable. The rooms in the newer section of the lodge were larger. I would request the tower if I were going again. The price per room I felt was expensive however transportation to the park was included with discounted park tickets.

We stayed here for one night over the summer. The positive attributes of the hotel were that the rooms were fairly clean, albeit unremarkable, and the staff was quite friendly. However, unless you have 4-6 poorly behaved children under the age of 10 with you, you will probably not fit in here and will likely find your stay hectic and stressful.

A quick list of the issues we had with this place:
- The amount of lobby and restaurant space is not nearly adequate for the number of guests the hotel can accommodate. If you pass through the lobby at 1-2 am, you will find what amounts to a day care center or huge "play date", only all the parents seem to be off getting drunk together in the corner while the kids run about unrestrained. I am not exaggerating when I say the over-under on the number of unsupervised kids in the lobby at any given time is north of 100. In the morning, we had to work our way through a sea of people and their kids for a good 10 minutes to pay $15 for a coffee, a room temp OJ and bagel in the hotel's only coffee shop.
- Walls in guest rooms are paper thin. Do not expect to sleep in to perhaps 6-7am on a Sunday because there will be kids screaming in the hallways, neighboring rooms, etc., running past, banging on stuff, crying hysterically, you name it. I am confident this was not a one-off experience for us. The chaos was literally infiltrating from all directions.
- Extremely overpriced for what you get. Rooms, food and beverage are exorbitant.
- Location is nothing special. You still need to drive to get to all of the local attractions.

With all this taken into account, I would recommend staying someplace else on your trip to Hershey - maybe even a little farther out of town given the fact that you will have to drive everywhere either way. In conclusion, given the high prices this hotel charges, I guess I was expecting something more, or at least something else.

We live 3 hours from Hershey and have stayed at The Lodge many times. When our children were small it was a great place to stay with lots of activities for the kids and easy shuttle to the park. At that time it was well worth the money. It is basically a 3 star motel with 4-5 star prices. The rooms are nice, usually clean, but certainly not fancy. They are a bit on the small side. We have always found the staff to be helpful and polite. Now that the kids are older and don't use the facilities, we don't find any value for the price and tend to stay elsewhere. However, the kids (now teenagers) do stay there on school outings and I stay there for conventions and we still enjoy the accomodations. On one pleasure trip several years ago there was a problem with the door lock and we could not get into the room after check in. Security tried their best to fix it, to no avail. We had to move to another area of the hotel after a long wait. That evening the hotel delivered a huge basket of chocolates to our room which must have weighed ten pounds, with a selection of every chocolate Hershey makes. It was a nice touch. In summary, with small children, who would enjoy the activities, it is probably worth the price, but otherwise, there are much better deals in the Hershey area.

My husband and I stayed here at the request of my friend who was traveling with us in September 2009. We paid top dollar for our room (almost $300) and I was amazed to discover that our room was just like a drive up motel with better furniture..you literally drove up to the front door. You could hear the doors to the nearby rooms slamming shut continually and one woman staying next to us left her car running with the radio blaring at 8:00 a.m. There were no perks such as free wifi, no breakfast, etc. I can't understand how they can justify charging so much money. I will never stay here again. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good, but the service was marginal. Either pay extra money and stay at the Hershey Hotel or stay in a Comfort Inn. You will be more satisfied.

First they tried to charge us $20 a person one way for their shuttle from the airport. You would think someone charging $300 a night would provide a free shuttle. The lobby is okay but nothing like other resorts or fine hotels I have stayed at. The service at 3 seperate restaraunts was terrible. The hotel is poorly designed from a elevator standpoint as they are only at the ends and it can be quite a walk to your room. The elevators also have no fans and are extremely hot. This place was a extreme ripoff and the staff isn't very friendly. I strongly suggest you look for other options.

This was our first trip to Hershey. We chose the Lodge to stay close and not to have to worry about parking and using our car. The Main lobby was beautiful and the general up keep to the buildings. the rooms I felt were very small and were not worth $299.00 a night. The beds were not bad and service was good. Food was great. They offer pre order room service( you place your menu card outside your door at night and with what time breakfast is to be delivered), the kids loved eating in the room. It was a great treat for them. The shuttle was convinent. The bus ran from half hour before the sweet hour (which you definately need to do with little ones), and we really did not have to wait lond for a ride back to the lodge. Sweet hour allowed us to do all the rides in Founders circle (all rides are for all including hershey minatures). But the rooms where not worth it and the indoor pool area was dirty.

We stayed here for one night on our first trip to Hershey Park

We paid over $260 for a room with two queen beds. The hotel was more of a motel. The rooms were tiny, and didn't have anything outstanding inside.
The bathrooms were outdated.

The service was horrible. We asked for extra blankets and they never came/
I guess it just wasn't what we expected at all.

Too bad. Way too pricy for an off season hotel room.
