“What a great place for the Christmas season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

My son is 6 and had a great time at Hershey. He had the best time at Hershey World, with the 4D movie, and all the other things to do there. Everything there was beautifully decorated for the season. The staff was helpful with any questions you had. If you are tired after a long day of running around with the kids, the room service is amazing. They had a pear salad that was wonderful as well.

This is my third time to Hershey, PA, and each time I have stayed in a different hotel. Nothing beats the Hershey experience. The staff is truly exceptional. There were plenty of people at the front check in counter so that there was no wait, and my kids especially enjoyed the "kids check in" area. We went for Halloween weekend, so there were extra surprises and treats around every corner. The rooms can be very far from the lobby, but the hotel is designed that you can park relatively close to your room. We stayed in a 2 Queen bed room, and it was tight for the 4 of us, but since we were not planning on spending much time there other than sleeping it didn't bother me. We also chose a room next to the indoor pool, which gave the kids an opportunity to swim during out stay. The hotel room is clean and the reviews are correct in that it could use a renovation. That being said, its not bad. The feel is that of an old highway lodge from when I was a kid, only very clean and comfortable. The towels and toiletries were very nice. The bed was firm and the sheets were soft. I slept well after a long day at the park.

Hotel transportation to the theme park was very convenient and we used it all weekend. Its not worth driving yourself to the park because you can be forced to park very far from the entrance and the free hotel shuttle takes you door to door. On the way home it even took us to our room.

All the Hershey staff was friendly and we ate our meals at the Hotel, and found it to be inexpensive and delicious.

Overall, there is a very big difference that is felt from the moment you arrive between a chain hotel and the Hershey Lodge. Both may have friendly staff, but there is something about the Hershey Lodge that is magical and helps get you in the mood for the parks. Even the smallest details of Hershey kisses watermarked into the sheets, was just nice.

I would highly recommend this resort. The only reason it is not 5 star, is because it is not the Hershey Hotel, which really is 5 star.

The Hershey Lodge was a fantastic venue for this years Convention. Everything was located under one roof. Very Convenient ! The food, rooms and service were top notch. The staff was friendly and always wiling to share a bit of Hershey History with you. Hoping next years Convention is held at The Hershey Lodge .....

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2807 .... Any room in that section of the hotel is a good spot !

The hotel is nice and they do a good job of decorating the lobby, especially during the holidays. There are lots of places to sit around the fireplace and it feels very social. The conference rooms are fairly easy to find and the staff is incredibly nice. The rooms are spacious for a family of four and having the cocoa-infused amenities is always fun. The beds and pillows are fabulously comfortable. You are close by all the Hershey activities, so it's easy to get in and out. Plus, who doesn't love a hotel who gives you a Hershey bar when you check in?

If your going to Hershey PA you should enjoy the full chocolate experience. Staying at the Hershey Lodge is a way to fully immerse yourself in everything chocolate. The rooms are not all that big, but they are clean. Remember this hotel is for children so it is not very quite, if your looking for more luxury and a little peace the Hershey Hotel may better suit you. However, if you have children and want to keep them busy, the Hershey lodge will definitely add to your overall Hershey experience

The Hershey Lodge is located 7 mins from the attractions near a very large hospital, I believe the Penn State Medical Center. A Friendly's is near by and you can see the sprawling new Hershey's factory on the hill. We drove here for a last minute weekend checking in on Saturday and vacating Monday. The lobby was large, clean and had a huge four way fireplace, similar to a ski lodge setup. Our children had their own "check in " desk where they could get a free Hershey Lodge lanyard and some coloring items. The children s' check in is available only on Friday and Saturday as are most of the child orientated functions (Hershey Product Character greetings, smores which cost extra, craft making, etc) Upon check in the staff was very helpful and gave us each a classic Hershey bar to enjoy. The children liked the added touch. Room keys were issued for the ground level facing the front of the building opposite the indoor and outdoor pools. Went to the room 1106 which had a front door that opened out to the parking lot which I was able to request. When first entering the room there was an "old musty" smell similar to a grandmothers old home. The room was larger than a standard room 2 queen beds a large high back chair, twin sinks opposite of each other in the bathroom area with a separate tub shower combo and toilet behind a door.Even though the room appeared clean and neat, for the amount of money per night ($200 per night) that I had to fork out this was unacceptable. I called front desk and they moved me to a room right above the existing one that had an interior entrance (room 2208). This room did not have the musty smell and we planted ourselves here for the weekend. I asked the Bellhop if the smell was normal and he said since the lodge was older and built on a hill, some of the rooms on the ground floor do have a musty smell to them.
PROS: Safe, location is in a quieter area with some food within walking distance.
Child friendly on weekends with functions for children
Clean , tidy and spacious rooms with a regal touch even for a "motor lodge" four persons (2 adults and 2 children ) can sleep comfortably without feeling cramped in the room.
Indoor and outdoor pool, indoor was heated (we used it) lifeguards and had towels available.
Overall very clean and neatly kept, lobby very nice reminds me of a Vermont Ski lodge setup.
Small coffee shop and nice gift shop with 3 restaurants
Concierge desk large and staffed well.
Heater and AC you can control, small refrigerator and microwave and coffee machine.
Chocolate scented soaps and shampoo.

CONS:
Older place, some rooms have musty mold smell
Odd configuration of toilet in bathroom, have to close door to access it.
Dated interior rooms other than flat screen and ipod friendly alarm clock.
Interior hallways long and noise resonates loudly and the doors are tough to close and must be slammed to close properly possibly disturbing other guests nearby. Can hear persons in hallway when door closed in room.
Large confusing layout, mainly for convention use, and very busy when there are conventions taking place.
Overall the lodge needs some upgrades, very expensive considering the top of the line Hershey Hotel was about $100 bucks more a night.
Indoor pool is located in an area where you have to walk outside unprotected from elements if you stay in the "C or D" Section of the lodge, the other wings have covered access.
No perks other than free candy bars and free parking at lodge, and a shuttle that operates every 45 mins to the Park and Chocolate World.
Would have been nice to get free parking if you decided to drive to the Chocolate World and Hershey park ($8 bucks to park) if you stayed on property, even Disney gives you free parking when you stay on campus as a perk.

Room Tip: Second floor has no smell.

We have stayed at this resort several times. It is always a good experience. The rooms are spacious and very clean. It is a big resort and it is a bit difficult to find your way around at first but there is always a map to look at. At times (first thing in the AM and right before "park preview") the line for the buses and the wait for the bus to the park are long but its still easier than driving. The bus drops off/picks up right in front of Chocolate world. The prices for park tickets is also a great deal when purchased as a package or individually from the lodge. The Christmas & Halloween packages are great.

Room Tip: All rooms are great and very quiet and there is parking close to each section. The bus from the par...
