“Updated electronics in rooms are a boon to families.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

The Lodge is old school, but remains a great place to stay if it fits your budget. Rooms with iHomes, HDMI connections, RCA jacks and loads of wall outlets are great! Bear's Den pub is a great hotel bar experience for all ages.

We spent 2 nights in the Lodge for a hockey tournament and we had a great time. Rooms were clean, The Bear's Den restaurant was great and the overall accommodation was excellent. The hotel was filled with hundreds of young hockey players but the hotel did a great job handling that except a long check-in line. We had a hard time getting our large group seated together in the restaurant but they did get us seated quickly and our food came in a timely manner and was good. Overall I liked the hotel and would stay here again.

We spent 2 nights at the Hershey Lodge and we had a wonderful time. The front desk employees were very helpful with our last minute arrangements. My kids enjoyed the warm indoor pool and the other kids activities. The room was clean. The food inside the hotel was average, lots of good eating alternatives in the area nearby. We want to visit again during the summer.

This is a nice place. We have been here many times. The place is huge. Very spread out. You will do a lot of walking. Beautiful lobby area. Very comfortable to hang out in. Gigantic 4 sided fireplace in lobby. Plenty of seating. Characters come walk around the lobby at scheduled times. The kids will love this. You get Hershey bars at check in. There are 5 places to eat in this hotel plus room service. This makes for plenty of options. Our food always tasted delicious. The service was spotty. Sometimes fantastic, sometimes not. Plenty of activities scheduled through the recreation area to keep the family busy. Bingo, scavenger hunts, crafts..... All keep the kids excited and happy. All have prizes of chocolate. It's hard to leave here without a suitcase full of chocolate! Kisses left by housekeeping in the room. Room was very clean. Swimming area large although it is starting to show its age. Could use a floor resurfacing and sprucing up. Lifeguards were friendly. Game room next to the swimming pool. Fun trip all around. We will be back.

Stayed at the lodge for three days and two nights, arrived on December 27. Traveled with my wife and 6 year old son. Hotel was great for kids with plenty of activities and indoor pool, game room. Families took advantage of the huge lobby with couches and chairs, many were playing board games and some had wine and other festive cocktails from the bar. A little crowded but a wonderful festive atmosphere for family during holidays.

Also enjoyed the town with zoo, chocolate world, park and drive through holiday light display.

We dined at Bears den, was fine with ordinary burgers and sandwiches. On last day we the at the upstairs restaurant, right in lobby (forgot name). Food and atmosphere was great, large windows overlooking property. We ordered a bottle of wine and were allowed to take bottle downstairs to lobby to finish.

Will come back next christmas.

Room Tip: Large hotel, select one near lobby if you have the ability.

Staying at Hershey Lodge has become a yearly family tradition for us. We love staying there and will continue to stay each year. Our experience has never been anything but excellent. Our check in experience took less than 10 minutes and although check in is as 4 PM, we were given a room before 4 o'clock. We love the fact the kids can play in the game room and swim in the indoor pool. At night, there were activities for the kids and they had a great time, especially during the bingo game. Tons of fun. Checking out was also a pleasure and a breeze. The lobby is our favorite...big ample chairs by the 4-sided hearth or not, we always spend a little bit of time hanging out with a hot chocolate and relaxing. Great fun.

Each time we return, we readily and happily recommend the Hershey Lodge to friends and family who are looking to get away either with the kids or sans enfants.

Room Tip: If you're not a big "walker" and don't like a long stroll to your room, make sure...

Just returned from 3rd stay here. It was great in the past but not this time. I booked my room in Oct for a late Dec stay and booked the same room we always stay in. But the requested room and suite was switched upon check-in (to the noisiest suite in the lodge) with no explanation or apology. I asked to speak with the manager, but the manager was too busy to talk to us. Basically, they did not care and it isn't the treatment I would expect for the prices they charge or for returning customers. The room was not as clean as in the past. And some other, more minor things were also problematic this time, such as the phone and WiFi in our room not working, not enough towels, no candy bars given to us at check-in, etc. I'm sorry to say that the service and quality is just not there any more and we will not return.
