“Convenient for us”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The employees were very friendly and available.
The breakfast provided was convenient and tasty.

They are in the process of upgrading this older facility.
There was adequate parking space.
The outside patio was a convenient gathering place for our group.

Nancy,
Thank you for taking the time to review The Quality Inn of Hermitage. Everyone loves our lobby and the front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. I have spoken to our breakfast attendant to see that such things as you report DO NOT happen again. I hope the next time you are planning a shopping trip you call me directly to see what special offers we have available for you.
Thank you

My girlfriend and I decided to take 3 days for some R & R and headed for the outlet mall in Grove City, PA. We couldn't get a hotel in the immediate area so decided on the Quality Inn at Hermitage. Our first impression was it is an old hotel that has been re-done. The lobby was quite nice and the girl at the desk was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. She directed us to our room and the first thing we noticed was that although the front lobby had been refurbished nicely the hallways certainly had not been touched. Our room was adequate with exactly what we asked for - no smoking with 2 queen beds. The bathroom was straight out of the 1960's - not redecorated to look like that - done in the 60's and not renovated since. Everything was yellow - sink, toilet, bathtub and wallpaper. And old. The toilet was cracked. There was no fan in this little space so that when someone showered the mirror was fogged up and had to be dried off several times before you could see in it. However, the beds and towels were clean and the staff friendly so it was 'OK'. The next morning we went down for our 'free' breakfast around 9 a.m. as it was advertised until 9 a.m. There was hardly anything left and when I asked if there was any bacon or sausages I was told quite curtly by the lady in charge that "we don't serve bacon and we ran out of sausage". Not a good start!! The only bread product was white English muffins - no bread or bagels and nothing whole wheat. The cereal offered was Cheerios (not bad) and two other sugary terrible choices. Plus the regular milk jug was empty (she ran out of that also we were informed) and the other jug that said it was skim milk was actually 1% (she said). Meanwhile there is no fruit out and no yogurt. She managed to find a few bananas and maybe 6 containers of yogurt after someone asked for them. She then disappeared (for the second time with her coffee in hand) out to the front desk or some other area. Surely when you are only open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. you could manage to stay at your post until everything is finished and all guests are gone. Also, how on earth can they run out of so many items when they know before hand how many reservations they have for each night and all they have to do is estimate their walk-ins. Needless to say we were not happy, had very little breakfast and will never stay there again.

Room Tip: Do not stay here unless you are desperate.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the entire hotel, and tahnk you for bringing these issues to my attention. Although I am responding well after you made your review I did read it at the time it was made. I addressed each and every issue you brought up and to the best of my ability none of it will happen again. I was particularly upset with the breakfast situation and took care of that right away. Give us another tray I am sure you will be pleased

While the room furnishings seemed a little outdated and the hall carpet had a few tears, the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast was adequate and the price was very reasonable. We used a coupon that we found in a brochure at a Rest Stop. Only issue was the front desk clerk was a little surly when we checked in. We would stay there again next time we are driving that thru town.

We choose this hotel because of a coupon in one of the motel guidebooks you pick up at welcome centers etc on the interstate. Price was OK but should have known that the facility might be a problem when it was so obviously an old style Holiday Inn. But the reception clerk was very pleasant and when we looked at the room it seemed OK, mostly we stayed there because it had a restaurant on site.

Things started to unravel when we went to the restaurant, it is in the hotel building but it might be a seperate operation as they could not charge the meal to our hotel bill. Service was very polite but thank goodness the restaurant was not busy because it took a long time for meals to arrive, it appeared that the cook was preparing things one table at a time as everything would be served to a table, and then nothing come out of the kitchen for a while, and then everything show up for the next table etc. During this the servers were constantly appologizing to those waiting. Food was actually OK when it came, although presented in a somewhat unusual fashion. I think the chef may have been "self trained".

The really crazy thing was the entertainment in the bar next to the dining room. It was a Metallica tribute band that played at about 200 dB and made conversation in the lobby totally impossible and also spread through half the hotel. The clerk had warned us about this and thankfully put us as far away as possible. From what I saw they were pretty much playing to themselves, a few bar patrons had taken their drinks out to the lobby to escape the noise, just bizarre.

As we spent more time in the room we found examples of shoddy housekeeping, again fully understandable when consider the age of the property but somewhat stomach turning in a couple of examples.. We pointed them out to the cleaner next morning and she reacted with appropriate concern but I'm not sure what she could really do about it.

Breakfast was adequate but don't show up at the last minute as things were running out. If the hotel had been busy it would have been a real problem. Third floor where the somewhat functional exercise room is located is also a smoking floor and was just disgusting in the hallway, I thought I was back in 1972. Again - the service staff was great but they are working with a difficult building and no doubt the owner is stretched as he is selling on price and would have to cut every expense.

Quality Inns really need to decide if this is the type of property they want to represent their brand, I don't think they or even the owner are getting much out of it as anyone expecting a branded hotel experience won't get it there and will wind up disappointed. Everyone was trying hard but it just isn't going to happen for them.

Room Tip: If there is entertaiment in the bar that night get as far away as possible from it. Stay off the th...

I would bet this is a 50 year old building, but Quality Inn has done an outstanding job of making it nice. A very helpful front desk staff checked me in. The hallways are freshly carpeted and wallpapered. My room was nicely furnished with comfortable beds with 3 pillows each. Fridge, microwave, wi-fi, free breakfast with waffles, free parking, plus an elevator!

Take exit 4B off of I-80. It is right up the road.

Check-in went good. Parking, plenty of it. Room, large, nice, flat screen, good bed, plenty of dust, cobwebs, wallpaper loose, carpet could have used a cleaning. Breakfast ........... plain and simple SUCKED, couple of eggs, sausage that had been warned up a couple of times. Going to try the Econolodge up the street next time

Room Tip: get ready for long walks to your room
