If you are looking for an adults only place to relax, this is it. It may be expensive but it's worth every penny.
I spent a week at the Lodge at Woodloch for the second time over the July 4th week. Last year friend and I went up there and met up with the 3 women. All five of us returned for the week again this year! We ate a scrumptious dinner each night together and drank ( at our own expense) and laughed and had a great time. During the day, each of us was on her own taking exercise or drawing classes, or cooking demos, or walking on the property, or kayaking or just relaxing in the common room or her own room.
We ate breakfast and lunch in our bathrobes which are provided by Woodloch. Breakfast is buffet style but eggs or pancake, which are delicious, or french toast is also available. Lunch is sit-down with a marvelous fish offering as a special that changes daily.
There were more exercise classes than last year, a wide variety of everything from Drums Alive, my favorite, to weight lifting classes such as Up in Arms Plus Core or Bodypump, to Cones & Ladders. There are water classes as well thgou I didn't attend any. They also had a B.A.M. workshop, balance, alignment, and movement, which was informative. There are also classes in yoga and pilates, although I don't do that.
The massages were so relaxing. Strphanie was my massage therapist for both my massages. I like deep tissue and she did the job. She was congenial and knowledgeable and didn't do a generic massage but attended to my shoulder needs.
The staff are friendly and efficient. Debbie, the hostess, in the restaurant, is wonderful. She can give you the scoop on just about anything. The servers, especially John and Ryan are quite accommodating.
The rooms are luxurious. It's the best bed I have ever slept in.
The spa area has showers complete with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. It's a delightful scent; I bought it for my use at home.
There is also a eucalyptus steam room, a women's only whirlpool, a sauna, an indoor co-ed pool, indoor waterfall, and an outside whirlpool.
I had two facial while I was there. Both were so terrific and made my skin feel young again! The facial use Naturopathica products and Caviar products.
My friends and I can't wait to come back next year. It just keeps getting better and better.
I have only one c5riticism: last year there was a barbecue for July 4th with a wonderful variety of food. This year, due to negative feedback, they did away with the barbecue. I hope it's back for July 4th next year when the five of us return for the third year!
