“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

My husband and I have stayed at the Ledges twice and can't wait for a return visit. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. The only decision to make is which deck to sit on to have a glass of wine and view the falls. Enjoyed dinner at Glass Bistro and the food and service were wonderful. One of the courses we had was a cheese plate of locally made cheese. Our favorite was not available at any store to purchase and they went out of their way to get the email address and names of who we could contact to buy the cheese. The Ledges is in an out of the way location but is definitely worth the effort to go to.

The Ledges is uncluttered and serene. This is a place to grab a glass of wine an sit on one of the decks overlooking the little stream and falls. The sound of the water is very relaxing. The Hotel feels like is is carved into the side of rocky cliff. We stayed in room 201; not the best view of the falls, but has all the sounds of falling water and tons of sunshine. In the morning, the sun starts to warm this stone and wood building and there are gentle creaks and moans that can be heard, like the building was also waking up. Pretty neat. If you decide to stay in one of the suites, be advised the spiral staircase to the bedroom will necessitate careful planning on what to haul upstairs.

Room Tip: Don't fret if you don't get the exact room you hoped for. Relaxing on one of the decks is th...

We just came back from a quick overnight to Ledges Hotel. What a find! Hidden away at the edge of the Wallenpaupack Falls, whose bluestone ledges gives the hotel its name, Ledges is an ultramodern oasis of quiet and serenity. We had a first floor hotel room looking out onto the walled garden, whcih was really serene. But we spent most of our time on the decks, which were tiered up the gorge, enjoying the sound of the water coming over the falls. We especially enjoyed the small plates menu at Glass, the wine bar/bistro. Fun to try several different things and not feel stuffed. The chicken cobb lettuce wraps and the trout deviled eggs and the mini mac and cheese (maybe the best we've tasted) were all delicious. As the gorge got dark we watched the crescent moon rise in front of us. A wonderful evening, though too short a stay. The town of Hawley was charming, and we enjoyed exploring the newly renovated Hawley Silk Mill and having coffee and breakfast at the Cocoon coffee shop at the top of the hill (though we started out the morning with complimentary coffee and pastry on the deck at Ledges). The shops and galleries at the Silk Mill were so interesting. We'll be back.

This place doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it doesn't need them. The location is stunning and the room was fantastic. We were there for 3 days and a lot of that time was spent sitting on one of the decks looking at, and listening to the falls. If you can, get suite 202 or 204. These have the best views of the falls. I can't speak to the single rooms, but the suites are very spacious with high ceilings, very large windows, 2 flat screens, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The bathrooms are modern with deep tub and rainfall shower. The connected restaurant Glass was also wonderful. We ate there twice and had six defferent small plates, and they were all delicious. If you are wanting to go to the Poconos for some peace, quiet, rest and relaxation, this is the place you want to go.

Good luck finding it, you have to drive thru the worst part of town to get to it. When you finally get there it's a big parking lot and what looks like a school building. Sterile, bland, boring. You get more comfort and bang for your buck at a holiday inn express . Save your money and pitch a tent, it's a better stay.

This was a completely amazing place to go on a weekend getaway. The rooms have everything you need, and if you get the opportunity to stay in the suites it's even more breath-taking. We were there for a two night stay and decided to stay another evening, and got upgrade to the suite overlooking the beautiful waterfalls. The hotel management was amazing, everyone was extremely kind and always available to communicate and assist as needed. Every evening before or after exploring the area we ate and had drinks at The Glass which is the hotel restaurant/bar- if you eat here get the French Onion Bites, I've never had anything like it-and it was delicious. The bar tender, Pete, as well as the entire restaurant staff will make you feel at home and welcomed and always make great recommendations for your getaway. This is probably one of the Poconos best kept secrets and I will go back during any season.

Room Tip: If you get a suite, take it- it's worth it. Or else any room is refreshing.

I'll do a positives/negatives thing:

Positives!
-The view (beautiful from room 204--make sure to ask for a view if you can)
-Super comfortable bed (soft sheets)
-Huge bathroom with large tub and rainfall shower
-Lots of space in two room suite (we didn't even use the downstairs except for the mini fridge)
-Friendly staff
-Very clean
-Quiet

Negatives
-So bright! So very bright. I need dark to sleep, at least a relative amount, but the shades in the room provided maybe 10% blockage of daylight. If you need dark to sleep, I recommend going to bed early or staying elsewhere
-Internet. We had many issues connecting (windows laptop, macbook, iphones all had trouble connecting at some point or couldn't get on at all). Got a little frustrating.

Overall, recommended!

Room Tip: Not all rooms have views, so be sure to ask
