Pizza seems to be the thing here, and the big glasses of beer. I had the famous pizza with pepperoni, and my companions had haddock, which they declared quite tasty. One had fries and the other cole slaw. We shared a large éclair for dessert. The server at the time (it was mid-afternoon, and the place was not crowed) was also the barman. He was very efficient and friendly. The prices are reasonable, too. One of the things I like is to be reminded by signs on the wall how far up floodwaters reached in 1936 and 1972. In '72, it was almost to the ceiling! It's an amazing thing that this place has survived since the 30s and is still prospering. They're doing something right!
