Who knew? So much to offer in one place! Gorgeous gardens like you'd see in Europe. Very spacious and clean rooms which overlook the hills. Fabulous dining...excellent spa treatment...pool...relaxation. This is not for the fru fru traveler, but it is for the traveler who is looking to be treated like a queen in a quaint atmosphere without paying a whole lot of money. Also, very close to the capitol building which should not be missed.

My friend and I decided to take a break from the city and spent 2 quiet days at Felicita. We were there during the week in August and it was extremely peaceful. It is a very large property with lovely wooded hills in all directions. Our stay was extremely reasonable in price and we decided we would return again soon. I think fall would be gorgeous.
It is not a glitzy/fancy spa/hotel, but more of a lodge atmosphere. The spa massages were excellent!! The pool was very relaxing.
The large clean room was in a separate building across the drive from the spa. Breakfast was in still another building which we drove to about a mile away.
The Italian gardens are incredible, beautifully maintained and expansive. It was such a surprise to see this hidden treasure!! A must see if you are staying there or are in the area.
The capital, Harrisburg is a 10 minute drive with a world class capital building recently restored to its magnificence for the 100 year celebration. The architecture and all the art, stained glass, mozaics, etc were fabulous.

  • Liked — Country atmosphere, massages, incredible Italian gardens, and price ($89 for the room)!
  • Disliked — Not an upscale feel to spa/rooms.

If you're looking for a peaceful spa experience, keep looking. The setting is beautiful, but the spa, hotel and restaurants fall way short of the scenery. Rooms are OK, but the staff is clueless, the spa services mediocre at best and the restaurant is a joke.

We've been to over 2 dozen destation spas, and this one falls well short of even average. The treatments lacked finess, and the staff seemed to be going through the motions. And we had moret than 10 different treatments from a variety of staffers over a long weekend.

The hotel staff is untrained and incompetent, though very personable. Promised Continental breakfasts seemed to not appear, housekeeping service was erratic at best and the front office staff is in another world.

The restaurant across the road at the Golf Course is a shambles. We went for lunch one day, and they were out of almost everything. They said "we just had a big party and they cleaned us out". We made the mistake of giving them a try for dinner, at which they hold themselves out to be a top notch steak house. The only thing top notch was the price. The soup arrived luke warm, the steak burned to shoeleather and inedible (they did remove the charge for that one). The staff is completely untrained and iffecient, but again, very pleasant. . The wine list is extensive and pricey, but we had to use cheescloth from the kitchen to filter sediment because they didn't have, or know what a decanter is.

Finally, if you find yourself there the same time as one of their MANY group functions like weddings or family reumions, put aside ANY notion of a quiet, peaceful spa experience. You'll be subject to the anti-spa experinece, probably not what you're looking for, so save the trouble and look elsewhere.

I had stayed at Felicita during a business trip last August, and was not real impressed with the service, staff or golf course. Everything was overpriced. But I decided to give it another shot last week when I had to go to Harrisburg for business. And I'm glad I did! FIRST- the rates have been reduced resort-wide. The room was reasonable ($89 mid week) the golf was OUTSTANDING ($25 to play & ride, what a value, I would have paid $75) and the service was friendly and courteous. Very odd how significant the differences were from my last trip, especially condition of the golf course, and staff attitude. If you like quiet & peaceful, give it a shot. Not for everyone though. Don't expect 5 star accomodations.

I can not remember when I have stayed at any resort or hotel that had the most consistently horrible staff members. This was not one or two, but everyone we encountered. We attempted to have lunch in The Grille one afternoon. When we arrived there were no patrons (never a good sign) and still waited more than five minutes for one of the two employees to greet us and take a drink order. As it turned out they had no iced tea or bottled water, only soft drinks. Next they had no soup or even there special house soup. The waitress would not leave the table to allow more time to decide. She hung around and stared at us. The food was horrible and we finally just had to tell the girl to leave us alone she was such a pest. When we made a comment about the service she began some hideous staring contest and stood there glaring at us. We ended up walking out of the restaurant as she continued here psychopathic game. All in all it was a most unsual experience. Staff do not offer a greeting and never speak to you unless spoken to (one employee told us he thought the place was on the verge of bankrupcy). And for a place that touts the beauty of the gardens, the rest of the grounds were in disarray. As for the rooms, at best they are average and not particularly clean. I could continue, but you get the point. Do not waste your money on this out-of-the-way, run-down, horribly staffed "project" that some bored retiree came up with.
