This is one of those family restaurants that you know you can count on as your second dining room/or kitchen depending on your meal: a variety of good food from easy/casual (burgers and fries) to a little more up scale (steak and fancy soups and pastas) rain or shine. They were always open when you needed it the most. An oasis in the Great Bend/Halstead area. Local students go dressed up on their prom nights as well as families, lonely elderly, long distance drivers and clergy for a warm meal and friendly welcome. The staff is personable, many on a first name basis with their regular customers, and they are kind to young children and their families, too with crayons, highchairs and doggie bags. They always have a few specials including a fabulous soup.
They are currently closed since they were badly flooded September 2011, and there's a sign up that they will reopen next door in December 2011, but they haven't yet. (2 more days guys!!) I so want this friendly and wonderful neighborhood restaurant to come back. Many in the neighborhood and surrounding region have fond memories of this place. This review is for wishing them a prompt recovery and reopen soon! I will be back supporting them from day 1!!
